GREENSBORO, NC, January 21, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Megan M. Boothby has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Dr. Boothby notably earned a Doctor of Pharmacy from the James L. Winkle College of Pharmacy at the University of Cincinnati in 2019. She began her career as a pharmacy technician and intern with Walton Pharmacy and Ludlow Pharmacy as well as the Cincinnati Veterans Administration Medical Center from 2014 to 2019. Furthermore, she has been designated as a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist through the Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS), which she considers to have been among her proudest professional moments, a career highlight. Dr. Boothby is currently pursuing to become a Board Certified Cardiology Pharmacist, also through BPS.
Since 2019, Dr. Boothby has excelled as a postgraduate acute care pharmacy resident and as a second-year cardiology pharmacy resident prior to accepting a full-time clinical position as a heart failure stewardship pharmacist with Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro. As a heart failure stewardship clinical pharmacist, she offers medication recommendations for optimization of guideline directed medical therapy for patients with heart failure that are admitted to the hospital. Likewise, Dr. Boothby also aids in providing additional patient assistance in affording required medications that have been proven to help patients feel better, keep them living longer, and keep them out of the hospital, but have the reputation for being cost-prohibitive.
Dr. Boothby attributes her success to the advice of her mentors, such as her pharmacy administrators, pharmacy preceptors and her residency program directors. She cites her enrollment in an introductory college-level chemistry course in high school as sparking her interest in the medical field, especially the clinical aspects of pharmacy science. In the coming years, Dr. Boothby intends to work with her team to recruit more professionals to expand the specialty pharmacy services for Cone Health. She hopes to continue mentoring and precepting pharmacy students and residents. In addition, she hopes to have more leadership involvement in the pharmacy residency programs at her institution.
