Ronald John Koscierzynski Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

An accomplished listee, Dr. Koscierzynski celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. Now retired, Dr. Koscierzynski enjoyed a tenured career as a secondary school teacher for more than 30 years. Combining his passion for electronics with education, he was originally hired to teach the subject at Utica Community High School in Utica, Michigan, in 1972 while pursuing his master's degree. Over the next 19 years at the school, Dr. Koscierzynski had the opportunity to chair both system-wide industrial education from 1975 until 1979 and the school's industrial arts department chair between 1981 and 1986. In 1991, he left Utica Community High School to teach technology and industrial arts at the district's Malow Junior High School, where he remained until 2004.

Dr. Koscierzynski was further associated as an electronics teacher for Hazel Park Adult Education between 1972 and 1977 while teaching full time for Utica Community Schools. He also spent several years in academia as a part-time instructor at Macomb County Community College from 1977 until 1981. Outside of his primary professional pursuits, Dr. Koscierzynski also contributed numerous articles in his field to various professional journals.

Locally involved, Dr. Koscierzynski served as a state advisor for the Technology Student Association. He also held multiple volunteer positions with the Boy Scouts of America, and served the American Veterans organization (AMVETS) as chair of the junior and regular Reserve Officers' Training Corps Committee, as an awards committee member, and as the state chair against drug and alcohol abuse. He also serviced AMVETS in numerous offices on the local and state level, including State Commander 1988-1989. Dr. Koscierzynski served his church as financial director for Our Lady Queen Apostles Parish and in various capacities at St. Kieran Church. He continues to be active in his church and community through serving with the Knights of Columbus in various capacities.

Highly educated, Dr. Koscierzynski initially received an associate's degree at Macomb County Community College in Michigan in 1968. He subsequently studied at Wayne State University, where he acquired a Bachelor of Science in Education, a Master of Education and a Doctor of Education in 1970, 1973 and 1979, respectively. After completing his undergraduate work, Dr. Koscierzynski enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving his country between 1970 and 1972 as a computer programmer for the 5th Army before returning home to begin graduate school.

As part of his professional commitments, Dr. Koscierzynski has been active with a multitude of industry-related organizations, including the Michigan Trade and Technology Educators, the International Technical Education Association, and the National Association of Industrial and Technology Teacher Educators. He is also the former chair of the organizational committee of the Michigan Industrial Arts Student Association and the former treasurer and former membership director of the Michigan Industrial Education Society. Dr. Koscierzynski was recognized as the AMVET of the Year in Michigan in 1982, and previously received the Paul M. Shilling Distinguished Service Award from the Michigan Industrial Education Society in 1981.
