Dr. Robin Elizabeth Johnson intends to harness her leadership skills to continue improving the delivery of essential health care services for local residents.

From 2018 through December 31, 2021, Dr. Johnson thrived as the medical director of El Paso County Public Health. With more than 30 years of medical experience to her credit, during this tenure she focused on the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases as well as the promotion and distribution of various immunization tactics. Dr. Johnson also develops and implements medical assessments, including social determinants of health, and conducts ongoing surveillance of emerging medical issues, particularly in relation to behavioral health and substance abuse.
In addition to her past responsibilities at El Paso County Public Health, Dr. Johnson continues to serve as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. She previously found success as an emergency department physician with Emergency Medicine Specialists PC, practicing in the University of Colorado Health Memorial system from 1992 through 2015. Toward the end of this period, Dr. Johnson simultaneously excelled as a medical director at Mission Medical Center in Colorado Springs and as a deputy medical director for the Colorado Springs Fire Department. She serves on multiple Boards, including chairing Peak Vista Community Health Centers, the second largest federally qualified health center in Colorado.
Among other awards, in 1994, Dr. Johnson was selected for a Best Physician award at Rocky Mountain Conference on Emergency Medicine and Nursing. She attributes a great deal of her success to her ability to adapt to widespread changes in the fields of emergency medicine and public health. In the coming years, Dr. Johnson intends to harness her leadership skills to continue improving the delivery of essential health care services for local residents in El Paso County and the greater Pikes Peak Region of Colorado.
