Ianthe Onelia Marini, DMA, Recognized for Contributions in the Arts

Dr. Marini, a DMA conductor, actress, singer, University professor, and associate producer for Realm Pictures International, was the 2019 recipient of the American Prize in Conducting.



    LOS ANGELES, CA, March 01, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Ianthe Onelia Marini, Doctor of Musical Arts, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Dr. Marini is the American Prize Winner in Conducting (2019) and currently serves as a music consultant, conductor, and associate producer for Realm Pictures International, a film company that focuses on equity and inclusion in mainstream media. She has an active schedule as a freelance artist in Los Angeles: as an actress, singer, conductor, dancer, published academic writer, and clinician.

Dr. Marini served as The Paul S. and Jean R. Amos Distinguished Chair for Choral Activities at the Schwob School of Music at Columbus State University in Georgia. While there, she won the American Prize in Conducting and was invited to conduct at Carnegie Hall. She also prepared the chorus for the Carnegie Hall and NYC debut of Jocelyn Hagen's The Notebooks of Leonardo. She prepared the chorus for professional performance with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra (for Maestro George del Gobbo) and was the inaugural founding faculty advisor for the Black Schwob Society: a student organization that advocates for the BIPOC community within classical music. Also a published academic writer, she is an invited guest contributor to the second volume of "Teaching with Heart", as well as "The Choral Conductor's Companion", both of which are published by GIA. Her dissertation has been mentioned in The Journal of Singing. Dr. Marini is an active contributing member of the National Collegiate Choral Organization and the American Choral Directors Association.

Dr. Marini achieved her Doctorate of Musical Arts from the University of Maryland where she was the recipient of the Pomeroy Prize for Scholarship and Performance of 17th Century Music, the sole graduate award at the School of Music. She served as the first female conductor of the University of Maryland Men's Chorus, and also prepared choruses for professional collaboration with the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center (for Maestri Nathalie Stutzmann, Sir James MacMillan, and Steven Reineke), and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra at Meyerhoff Hall (for Maesti Markus Stenz and Jack Everly). She achieved her Master of Music degree from Temple University where she was the recipient of the Elaine Brown Memorial Scholarship for Choral Music as a vehicle for social justice, and the Helen Laird Scholarship for Excellence in Academics. Her Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education is from the Pennsylvania State University where she won the Creative Achievement Award and was a four time recipient of the Flute Performance Scholarship.

Dr. Marini has an active career as an actress and has been the leading role in a number of independent films and stage productions, including her work as Anita in West Side Story for which she was recognized as Best Actress in a Musical by Boston Broadway Awards. She is working towards expanding her portfolio in Hollywood.
