Peters: $1.5 Spending Bill Is Latest Example of Congress Passing Legislation Without Knowing What Is Inside It

Spending Bill Contained At Least Two Anti-Second Amendment Provisions

I run a business and when I spend money, I know exactly what I am spending it on, and that is how our government should spend our hard-earned dollars

LAS VEGAS, NV, March 12, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Today Major Sam Peters, United States Air Force veteran, Bronze Star recipient, and Republican candidate for Congress in Nevada's 4th District, denounced the $1.5 billion omnibus spending bill passed by Congress and signed into law by Joe Biden. The legislation is just the latest example of Congress passing legislation without even knowing what is being voted on. For example, Peters pointed out that it had two anti-Second Amendment provisions that a majority of members were unaware of, and this is just one item. Clocking in at 2,741 pages of legislative text and 2,413 pages of Explanatory Materials, this omnibus spending bill is massive. It would take over 396 hours for the average person to read and comprehend the bill and members had less than 12 hours to do so. The bill included aid to Ukraine, funding for abortion, and funding to expand the IRS yet did not contain funding for the border wall or end the COVID State of Emergency, Peters pointed out. This bill is nothing but inflationary government spending and the latest example of the disconnect between Washington, D.C., and the voters.

"I run a business and when I spend money, I know exactly what I am spending it on, and that is how our government should spend our hard-earned dollars, yet as this $1.5 billion spending bill demonstrates, our representatives like Steven Horsford have no idea what they are voting for, when they have less than12 hours to read over 5000 pages," said Sam Peters. "I would be a strong no for such wasteful spending. When I am in Congress, I will read each piece of legislation that I vote on. I believe in safeguarding the taxpayers' money.

"This legislation represents all that is wrong with Congress with increasing the IRS, spending millions on earmarks while forgetting about our borders and safety," concluded Peters. "When I am in Congress, I will be a firm vote for the taxpayers and our personal freedoms."
