Wolfgang Fritz Klietmann, MD, Recognized by Marquis Who's Who

Dr. Klietmann serves as an expert in clinical pathology, medical microbiology and infectious diseases



    PLYMOUTH, MA, April 14, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Wolfgang Fritz Klietmann, MD, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Dr. Klietmann benefits from the accumulated experience of more than three decades of expertise in the field of medicine. Prior to embarking on his professional journey, he earned a bachelor's degree in premedical biology from the University of Münster in 1961, and obtained a diploma for his coursework in the French language and civilization from the Université of Paris-Sorbonne in 1962. He continued his academic efforts at the University of Freiburg in Germany, where he attained a Doctor of Medicine in 1965, and subsequently completed his residency in medicine in 1970. As a commitment to his field, he is an active member with the College of American Pathologists, the American Society of Microbiology and the Infectious Disease Society of America. Additionally, Dr. Klietmann has been an active board member with the Swiss-American Chamber of Commerce (New England Chapter).

During the early stages of his career, Dr. Klietmann excelled in multiple roles, such as a research group leader with Max-Planck Institute for Virus Research in Tübingen (Germany), an Associate Scientist with the Wistar Institute at the University of Pennsylvania, and as Primary Investigator (PI) for the Institut Mérieux, a major producer of vaccines in Lyon (France). He continued his vocation by gaining expertise in pathology, virology, immunology, vaccines, education, business and leadership as a faculty member of the University of Tübingen, and later as a founder, president, director, physician-in-chief, and the chief executive officer at the Institute for Laboratory Medicine in Moers (Germany). In this capacity he built and developed a diagnostic laboratory that serviced 30 hospitals, more than a thousand physician offices, pharmaceutical firms, and supervised doctoral students, 120 technical staff, and more than 200 employees. Dr. Klietmann received his executive education from Harvard Business School prior to his immigration to the U.S. In 1992 he became Director of Reference Laboratory Operations in the Department of Pathology of the Massachusetts General Hospital and joined Harvard Medical School as Lecturer on Pathology. During this time Dr. Klietmann was elected President of the Harvard Business School Health Industry Alumni Association and a Director of the Board.

As of 2000, Dr. Klietmann has built a prolific career as a principal of the eponymous Klietmann Consulting practice, through which he liaises with the pharmaceutical, the biotechnological, the biodefense, the clinical pathology and the telemedicine industries. Since establishing the consultancy, he has worked with such clients as the United States Department of Defense, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the Government of the Dominican Republic, as well as several major pharmaceutical corporations. In recent years, Dr. Klietmann has also consulted with the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries regarding the COVID-19 vaccine.

Throughout the course of his career, Dr. Klietmann has contributed to a number of articles in professional journals, and developed a diagnostic test system for AIDS in a laboratory during his time in Germany. Among his professional accomplishments, he is most proud of his research studies on the subject of vaccines and infectious diseases, as well as having his work cited more than 560 times to date. He attributes much of his success to his propensity for hard work and dedication, as well as to his determination to overcome challenges in order to achieve his goals. Looking toward the future, Dr. Klietmann serves on the scientific and medical advisory boards of companies and intends to utilize his knowledge of vaccines to battle the COVID-19 pandemic and other viruses.
