Tina Q. Tan, MD, FAAP, FIDSA, FPIDS, has been Inducted into the Prestigious Marquis Who's Who Biographical Registry

Dr. Tan is recognized for her dedicated career in treating pediatric infectious diseases



    CHICAGO, IL, April 19, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Tina Q. Tan, MD, FAAP, FIDSA, FPIDS, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Dr. Tan earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of New Orleans in 1982. Six years later, he earned a Doctor of Medicine from the Louisiana State University School of Medicine. She then completed a residency in Pediatrics at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX in 1991 and a fellowship in Pediatric Infectious Diseases at the same institution in 1994. Dr. Tan is certified in pediatric infectious diseases and in pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics.

Dr. Tan began her career as a pediatric infectious diseases attending and then became director of the International Adoptee Clinic, which are positions she still holds. She then also became co-director for the Pediatric Travel Medicine Clinic and in 2014 also took on the role as Medical Director for the International Patient and Destination Services program. She currently excels as the professor of pediatrics and infectious diseases for the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University. As part of her dedication to her field, she is a member of the Society for Pediatric Research, the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society, the Infectious Diseases Society of America, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the American Society of Microbiology, among other organizations.

In addition to her primary efforts, Dr. Tan serves on several professional committees and boards, including as a member of the Board of Scientific Counselors, Office of Infectious Diseases of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, chairperson for the nominations committee for the Section on Infectious Diseases of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of the vaccines and related biological products advisory committee of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. She was also recruited as an editor for the American Academy of Pediatrics Redbook Atlas of Pediatric Infectious Diseases and the companion "Red Book: A Quick Diagnosis Deck." She has also found success as the editor-in-chief for Contemporary Pediatrics and an editorial board member for several medical publications. To support her community, she contributes to the medical advisory board for the Lincoln Park Zoo and participates in the Talk About Vaccines program with the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry.

In recognition for her expertise, Dr. Tan has been honored with many accolades. Most recently, she received the Infectious Diseases Society of America 2021 Society Citation Award from the Infectious Diseases Society of America and the American Academy of Pediatrics S. Michael Marcy Visiting Professor Award from the American Academy of Pediatrics. In 2021, she also accepted a Pediatric Residency Teaching Award from the infectious disease division of the department of pediatrics at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Additionally, she was recognized as one of the Best Doctors in America in 2020 and received a certificate of appreciation from the United States Department of Health and Human Services in 2019. Having decided to become a doctor when she was a young child, Dr. Tan enjoys solving puzzles and always gravitated towards things in medicine or biological sciences. She also had an affinity for working with children and families, and pediatrics allowed her the opportunity to work with those patients. She plans to fully implement a routine vaccination protocol in the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center at Northwestern. The goal is that fully implementing the vaccination protocol will protect the patients against common vaccine preventable diseases as they go through their treatment.
