Avista Resort Joins the Fight to End Homelessness in Charity Rappelling Event

    NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC, April 22, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Avista Resort, and Over the Edge are partnering for a special event to benefit New Directions Myrtle Beach homeless shelters. Avista Resort will be the base location for thrill-seekers, do-gooders, and community heroes to rappel over the edge of their 17-story building in a bid to help end homelessness, poverty, and addiction in the entire Grand Strand.

On May 7th, Avista Resort and Over the Edge are encouraging 92 thrill seekers from the community to raise a minimum of $1,000 each for the opportunity to "go over the edge" of the 164 ft tall resort. This once-in-a-lifetime event is hosted by Over the Edge, which provides participants with all the tools they need to successfully fundraise this opportunity, including a personalized fundraising website.

The Avista Resort-sponsored rappelling event is an opportunity for fearless participants or those who are looking to overcome their fear to support members of their community by changing the lives of their neighbors who are currently experiencing homelessness, addiction, or poverty throughout Horry County. New Directions offers emergency shelter services through their Pathways and Essentials programs. The Pathways program is an emergency shelter offering for women, families with children, and a transitional living facility for women. Both programs are offered at the men's shelter as well, which helps to provide a structured program to help end homelessness, poverty, and addiction with no barriers for single men.
