Drawing on over a decade of expertise, Dr. Rivera specializes in pharmacotherapy. Prior to embarking on his professional journey, he pursued an education at the Universidad de Puerto Rico, Escuela de Farmacia, where he earned a Doctor of Pharmacy in 2012. As a commitment to his field, Dr. Rivera is certified in pharmacotherapy and has been active with several industry-related organizations, including the American College of Clinical Pharmacy and the American Academy of HIV Medicine.
Dr. Rivera began his career as a pharmacist in Puerto Rico from 2008 until 2020. Since 2020, he has found much success as a doctor of pharmacy at the Veterans Affairs Caribbean Healthcare System. In this capacity, he is responsible for collaborating with the doctors and team members at the center when providing optimal patient care and treatment of illnesses through pharmacotherapy, as well as adjusting medications when necessary and ensuring safety and efficiency of drug administration in a hospital setting. Dr. Rivera served as an adjunct professor at the University of Puerto Rico, Medical Science Campus and Director of Pharmacy at the University of Puerto Rico Clinical Trials unit. In addition to his primary vocation, Dr. Rivera served as preceptor for Pharm D. candidates of the University of Puerto Rico, School of Pharmacy.
Among his professional accomplishments, Dr. Rivera is most proud to have attained much success in his field at a young age, and to have the privilege of serving in his role as a doctor of pharmacy at the reputable Veterans Affairs Caribbean Healthcare System. He attributes many of his achievements to his upbringing and to his parents, who were instrumental in his personal and professional development. Looking toward the future, Dr. Rivera aspires to continue expanding the scope of his career by pursuing a board certification in the specialty of clinical and mental health pharmacy.
