Drawing on over a decade of expertise, Ms. Shiplett specializes in interior design. Prior to embarking on her professional journey, she pursued an education at Iowa State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in interior design in 2009. As a commitment to her field, Ms. Shiplett has been certified nationally in interior design by the Council for Interior Design Qualification, and recognized as a LEED accredited professional in interior and commercial design via the United States Green Building Council.
Since 2012, Ms. Shiplett has built a prolific career as a designer and owner of Eden and Gray Design Build, a residential and commercial design boutique that specializes in creating innovative design solutions, as well as quality construction, installation and styling services for clients. Prior to establishing her private company, she garnered expertise as an interior design keyword specialist at Meredith Corporation, an American media conglomerate based in Des Moines from 2008 to 2022. She was also active as an interior designer at Storey Kenworthy from 2011 to 2012, a project manager for Innova Ideas and Services between 2009 and 2010, and an interior design intern for Saxton Design Group in 2008. In this capacity, she has built an extensive portfolio with a multitude of designs for kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms, mudrooms and more. In her career related endeavors, Ms. Shiplett has partnered with various vendors, including Crystal Cabinets, Emtek Hardware and Arizona Tile, along with a brick-and-mortar store that she will be opening in 2022, which will sell window treatments, artwork, lighting and other furnishing accessories to better accommodate her customers.
Outside of her primary vocation, Ms. Shiplett served as a dance instructor at Capital City Dance Center between 2005 and 2011 and ballet director of Dream Dance company from 2010 to 2015; she still trains and performs with her local ballet company, Ballet Des Moines, as a community dancer to stay active in the arts. Well regarded for her contributions to the field, she was featured for her work in the industry in the DSM Magazine article in 2020, a local publication in Des Moines that promotes the arts and culture of the surrounding area. Additionally, her firm has been recognized as the Best of Houzz for service in 2015, 2016 and 2019, and has been honored with the Silver Award from DSM Home in 2021 and 2022.
