Phoenix Industries Receives Patent For New In-Direct Heating & Mixing Technology Used In Their RAPpro™ Hot Mix Asphalt Plants

This patent covers the method for producing a high-quality hot mix asphalt utilizing 100% recycled asphalt product (RAP). Hot mix produced by a RAPpro plant has the lowest carbon footprint of any asphalt pavement being produced.

PRESCOTT VALLEY, AZ, July 21, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Phoenix Industries is proud to announce the issuance of a US patent for a unique in-direct heating and mixing technology used in their RAPpro™ hot mix asphalt plants.

The company's new RAPpro systems are available as stand-alone plants or can be integrated into an existing hot plant to pre-dry and heat RAP to increase production. This patent covers the method for producing a high-quality hot mix asphalt utilizing 100% recycled asphalt product (RAP) in an environment free of excess oxygen so not to further oxidize the RAP binder.

By allowing a much higher percentage of RAP than conventional hot plants, a RAPpro customer can obtain maximum savings while choosing the greenest source of hot mix asphalt production in the market.

David Hillcoat, CFO of Phoenix Industries stated: "The development of this technology has been in the works for many years and required a very substantial investment, but we are already beginning to see a great deal of interest from the industry.

The aggregates and oil used in the production of asphalt paving mixes are becoming scarce and expensive, so being able to recycle more of these limited natural resources makes good environmental and economical sense.

The award of this new patent reinforces our portfolio of patents and technological advancements and supports our overall mission for moving towards a more environmentally friendly business model."

The Phoenix Industries web site states: The unique design of the RAPpro plant removes the need for a bag house and heated liquid asphalt storage tank, so both the physical and emissions footprint of the RAPpro system are greatly reduced, thus helping to ease any permitting requirements. The plant can also be configured as a mobile unit, which may further reduce regulatory requirements in certain cases.

Phoenix Industries is prominent for pioneering the development of a variety of products and equipment used in the modified asphalt industry. In business since 2008, PI has shipped equipment and products to over fifty countries.
