FISHERS, IN, August 16, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Bethany Robinson has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

An expert in music education, Ms. Robinson has found success as a dedicated teacher for more than 15 years, and a skilled bassist for more than two decades. Hailing from a musically inclined family, she began playing when she was in kindergarten and continued to pursue her passion throughout middle and high school. She originally intended to pursue higher education in biochemistry, but found she was increasingly interested in music as a career while in college and wanted to share that passion with the next generation as an educator.

To prepare for her teaching career, Ms. Robinson earned a Bachelor of Arts in music education and a master's degree from Olivet Nazarene University. While pursuing her education, she began her career teaching students from sixth through 12th grade in 2005. Since then, she has also distinguished herself as the jazz director and assistant band director for Noblesville High School. In this role, she teaches multiple jazz bands, including at the intermediate and advanced levels, while providing master classes with special instructors to help give the students a new approach to music.

In recognition of her teaching expertise, Ms. Robinson was named as the Indiana Jazz Educator of the Year in 2014 by the Indianapolis Jazz Foundation. In 2015, she created an all-district jazz band for the Indiana Jazz Educators Association and was named as the Noblesville Teacher of the Year. Additionally, in 2022, she was named as a top 10 national finalist for the 2022 Grammy Music Educator Award, selected from over 1,100 nominees across the country.

In addition to her main career in teaching, Ms. Robinson is an accomplished professional bass player in the Indianapolis area. She accrued experience as a guest adjudicator for the Western Australian Schools' Jazz Festival in 2017, and is currently serving as a chair for the National Association for Music Education Jazz Council and the president of the Indiana Jazz Educators Association. She is also a member of the Indiana Bandmasters Association, the Indiana Music Educators Association, the National Education Association and the Indiana State Education Association. She has lent her expertise to the 2022 Indiana Music Educators Conference and the International Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic, and delivered a keynote speaking presentation at the Australia National Band and Orchestra Conference in 2021.

In 2011, she was selected to receive a Lilly Endowment Teacher Creativity Grant, which supported her travel to New York City and New Orleans to write about emerging trends in jazz in America. She also attended the Band Director Academy at Jazz at Lincoln Center, and composed a piece inspired by her experiences in the two cities under the support of this grant. In 2019, she was awarded a second Lilly Creativity Grant, which led to her traveling to Salvador and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to learn more about her family history and study Samba, Chorro and Bossa Nova genres of music.

Under her direction, Ms. Robinson's students has also achieved national recognition. Ms. Robinson's top high school jazz band was a two-time finalist for the Jazz at Lincoln Center Essentially Ellington Festival and Competition and won second place in the 2021 and 2022 National Jazz Fest Large School Jazz Ensemble Category. She also was named as a Jazz Hero by the Jazz Journalists Association in 2022.
