    CEDAR RAPIDS, IA, August 23, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Chirantan Ghosh, MD, FACP, MBA, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Over the course of his more than 30 years of experience in hematology and oncology, Dr. Ghosh has devoted much of his efforts to the fields of general adult oncology and adult hematology. To prepare for his career in health care, he earned a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Calcutta in India in 1982. Well qualified in his field, he is board certified in medical oncology, hematology, internal medicine and hospice and palliative care medicine. After moving to the United States, he completed his internal medicine residency at the Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital in 1987 and a fellowship in hematology and oncology at the University Hospitals of Cleveland in 1990.

Following this time, Dr. Ghosh began his career as a partner for the Oncology Associates of Cedar Rapids from 1990 until becoming the founder and physician for Iowa Blood and Cancer Care PLC in 2002. After leaving this position in 2008, he became the owner and physician for the Physicians' Clinic of Iowa in 2009. Since 2011, he has found success as the chief medical officer, owner and founder for his practice, the Ghosh Center for Oncology and Hematology. As the leader of his practice, he utilizes a multifaceted approach to health care without shifting a high financial burden to his patients. He and his colleagues ensure their patients fully understand their diagnosis and treatment plans in laymen's terms while collaborating with the patient to keep their best interests at the forefront. To deepen his understanding of business to better manage his practice, he attained an executive Master of Business Administration from the University of Iowa Tippie College of Business in 2018.

Additionally, Dr. Ghosh has been a physician member with Paramount Health Options, formerly Cedar Rapids Physician Hospital Organization, since 1994. He also serves as the medical director for Artelus, a health care AI start-up company, where he has been since 2019. His primary areas of research have focused on the measurement of quality parameters in oncology, as well as the effects of tamoxifen on homocysteine metabolism and of homocysteine metabolism on the rate of restenosis after angioplasty immune system activation of coagulation in patients with chronic fatigue syndrome. He has been the study chairman for clinical trials in 1989 and 1993 and a co-chair for a phase 2 study and a phase 3 study, both conducted in 1993. He has also contributed a wealth of research to various publications over the course of his career.

In recognition of his excellent work in health care, Dr. Ghosh was named as the Person of the Year by the Iowa Asian Alliance in 2006 and was honored with a Healthcare Hero Award from Corridor Business Journal in 2008. He was also presented with the Doctor's Day Award from the Linn County Medical Society in 2010 and received a Guardian of Excellence Award. In 2009, he was invited to the White House to meet with Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, the medical advisor to then President Barack Obama, and discuss issues in health care. Furthermore, he was awarded several international honors, including the Pravasi Achievers Gold Medal, a Humanitarian Award and the NRI of the Decade award from the NRI Welfare Society of India, among others. Likewise dedicated to the field of education, Dr. Ghosh was named as the Educator of the Year by the Linn County Friends of Education in 2009.

With the support of his successful medical practice, Dr. Ghosh's current goal is to help the villages of India to prosper, making sure girls who live there are financially independent to prevent them from being taken advantage of or harmed. Additionally, he is seeking to help change traditions in the area to prevent such young women from becoming victims of sex trafficking, allowing them to become economically independent. For his own professional development, he is also developing an artificial intelligence system anyone would be able to operate to observe a patient's retina and diagnose various illnesses.
