Mr. Verst has led a long and distinguished career specializing in logistics and supply chain management. Leading Verst Group Logistics in Walton, Kentucky, as the organization's chair and chief executive officer, the family-owned business was first founded by his father, William G. "Bill" Verst, in 1966. In addition to providing various logistics solutions for clients, Mr. Verst has been instrumental in expanding the company's strategic plan, real estate and customer solutions. Apart from employing over 2,200 staff members, he and his management team oversee 26 warehouses and over seven million square feet of warehouse space, as well as a full fleet of tractors and trailers to accommodate the many needs of clients.
Being able to assume the responsibility and successfully manage operations for Verst Group Logistics over the past few decades has been a significant accomplishment for Mr. Verst. Looking toward the future, he aspires to eventually entrust the company's ownership to a third-generation family member, keeping the legacy of what his father created alive.
Mr. Verst has been affiliated with several local organizations in support of his community, including as a member of the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce and the Central Bank Board of Advisors; as a member of the board of trustees at his alma mater, Xavier University; and as a board member for the Kenton County Airport Board, the OneNKY Alliance, and the Horizon Community Foundation. He is also an active parishioner of his local church. Among other involvements, Mr. Verst previously served on the board and as a Dan Beard council member of the Boy Scouts of America and as a board member of the Gateway Community and Technical College Foundation.
After graduating from Covington Catholic High School in 1973, Mr. Verst acquired a Bachelor of Science in business administration, with a concentration in accounting, in 1977 and a Master of Business Administration in management in 1979 from Xavier University. Mr. Verst also earned certification as a warehouse logistics professional.
To remain abreast of developments in his field, Mr. Verst is a member of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals, the Warehousing Education and Research Council, and the Young Presidents' Organization. Mr. Verst also served in various leading roles for the International Warehouse Logistics Association and the Ohio Warehouse Association.
Mr. Verst draws a sense of accomplishment from being recognized by the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce with a Walter R. Dunlevy Frontiersman Award. He was also named the Northern Kentuckian of the Year by Covington Catholic High School and was inducted into the Northern Kentucky Business Hall of Fame. Mr. Verst is grateful to his parents for teaching him the importance of a diligent work ethic. He also recognizes how his leadership skills and his sense of compassion for his employees and his customers have contributed to his success.
