She also served other governmental roles where she garnered the respect of Members of the United States Senate and other political leaders. Additionally, Ms. Carnes established a national public awareness and information campaign called GetTech to inspire high school students to consider careers in technology.

Looking toward the future, Ms. Carnes aims to continue working with organizations that focus on bringing valuable innovations to the forefront of commercialization and manufacturing in the United States. She also plans to continue focusing on supporting clients in the national security arena and advocating for innovation, technology, competitiveness, and renewable energy.

Ms. Carnes has served as a keynote speaker at many professional business and technology conferences both in the United States and abroad. She has also been active on various boards and commissions such as the Comptroller General's Advisory Board, the senior advisory group for the Director of National Intelligence, and the Steering Committee for the Commission on the Advancement of Women and Minorities in Science, Engineering, and Technology. Ms. Carnes also was an advisor for the Center for Strategic and International Studies and served on the National Governors Association Commission on Technology and Adult Learning. Ms. Carnes is a prominent member of the National Defense Industrial Association.

To prepare for her career, Ms. Carnes studied at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she earned a Bachelor of Arts. Continuing her studies, she was accepted to Georgetown University Law Center where she served as a topics editor for the Georgetown Law Journal and subsequently graduated with a Doctor of Jurisprudence magna cum laude.

Recognized for her work, Ms. Carnes has been quoted in featured articles in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Washington Post, USA Today, and other noteworthy publications.
