Mr. Salter has enjoyed a successful career with Fairchild Space and Electronics for over three decades. During his many years with the organization, Mr. Salter had the opportunity to work on the STS 41-C Solar Maximum Repair Mission, which was the fifth mission of the space shuttle Challenger in 1984. Among other achievements, Mr. Salter was responsible for solving a critical issue on the Fairchild built ATS-6 spacecraft.

Mr. Salter continues to be involved in his local community by volunteering as a transportation coordinator with People Helping People, a nonprofit organization. Mr. Salter is notably a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.

Born in Glen Cove, New York, Mr. Salter relocated to Maryland in 1942 with his parents. He later graduated in the first graduating class of Wheaton High School in 1956.
