From 2019 to 2021, she found much success as the president and chief executive officer of the University College of the Cayman Islands. In this capacity, she was responsible for creating and executing the five-year strategic plans for the university, in addition to building relationships, establishing metrics and ensuring compliance. Prior to this role, she was active as an associate vice president of marketing, communications, external relations, strategic partnerships and presidential initiatives for the University of the Pacific from 2015 to 2018. Dr. McAfee initially began her career working as a manager for McMaster-Carr from 1986 until 1996.
Dr. McAfee continued her vocation serving as an instructor at Elmhurst University and DePaul University from 1996 to 1997. Following this post, she garnered expertise as a full-time faculty business administrator at the St. Charles Community College from 1998 until 2001, while concurrently working as the director of development at the Campbell Montessori School from 2000 to 2001. Between 2003 and 2015, Dr. McAfee built a prolific career contributing to the University of Phoenix in a variety of roles, including a campus college chairperson, the director of academic affairs, a regional director of academic affairs, a campus director and, finally, as the campus vice president.
Prior to embarking on her professional journey, Dr. McAfee pursued an education at the Highland Community College in Illinois, where she obtained an Associate of Arts in 1983, followed by a Bachelor of Business Administration in transportation logistics from the Iowa State University of Science and Technology in 1985. She continued her academic efforts at DePaul University, earning a Master of Business Administration in 1991. Dr. McAfee then concluded her scholarly endeavors at Drexel University, attaining a Doctor of Education in higher education and administration in 2015.
As a commitment to her field, Dr. McAfee has been licensed as an American leadership forum fellow by the Mountain Valley Chapter of the American Leadership Forum in 2016. Additionally, she has been active with several industry-related organizations, including the Cayman Islands Technology Innovation Ecosystem Steering Committee, and the Sacramento Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce, among others. Likewise dedicated to civic advocacy, Dr. McAfee contributes to the Sacramento Food Bank and Family Services, Habitat for Humanity, the American Heart Association and the various local charities in her community.
Well regarded for her contributions to the field, Dr. McAfee has received multiple awards, including the City Year Moccasin Award, the Rising Star Campus Leadership Award, the Honor Roll Campus Award and the Distinguished Community Partner Award, to only name a few. Among her professional accomplishments, she is most proud of the expertise that she has garnered through her leadership roles and of her ability to consistently contribute to transformative change in her specialty. She attributes much of her success to her core values and her personal passion for achieving effective and positive changes in her professional endeavors.
