Dr. Luis Alberto Ambroggio has been Inducted into the Prestigious Marquis Who's Who Biographical Registry

Dr. Luis Alberto Ambroggio is recognized for his dedicated career as a leader with the Ibero-American Academy of Poetry



    NAPLES, FL, January 20, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Luis Alberto Ambroggio has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Leveraging more than three decades of excellence in international leadership, civil action and poetry, Dr. Ambroggio has earned distinction as a writer, poet and businessman. In this capacity, he served as the director of the Ibero-American Academy of Poetry and served as the State Department Cultural Envoy to Nicaragua and El Salvador. He has given lectures at over 30 universities and specializes in poetry and essays written in Spanish on issues related to bilingualism, identity and critical studies of other renowned poets.

Prior to his most recent role, Dr. Ambroggio began his career as an intern for the United States Congress and then for the White House Cabinet Committee for the Advancement of the Hispanic Population. He worked with the Pan American Development Foundation until joining the Embassy of Argentina in Washington, DC. In 1976, he founded Aerospace International Marketing, which he ultimately sold in 2001, serving as the chief advisor for the board until 2008. During this time, he was also a member of the North American Academy of the Spanish Language and of the Spanish Royal Academy, and served as the organizer of the first International Congress of the Academy as President of the Washington DC Delegation of the North American Academy of the Spanish Language.

An accomplished poet as well, Dr. Ambroggio was the curator for the Smithsonian Institute for literary events and served as a cultural consultant for The North-American Academy of Modern Literature and Poetry. Over the course of his career, he has published 30 books of poetry and essays and had his poems featured in publications including Passport, Scholastic, International Poetry Review, Hispanic Culture Review and many others. The "Luis Alberto Ambroggio Award" was established in his honor, by the Academy of American Poets and by the Universities of Indiana and the Catholic University of America serving as scholarships that provide support to students in the Latino studies programs. He has also received special recognition through the Embassy of Argentina, the Matias Delgado University of El Salvador, among others, and was named an Adopted Son of Vallejo's Native City in 2017.

Among his more notable poetic works, Dr. Ambroggio participated in "DC Poets Against the War," "Red Hot Salsa," "Tigertail," "Poetic Voices Without Boundaries" and "Cool Salsa." His poems have been translated into several languages and appeared in anthologies in Latin America, Europe and the United States. He also has authored more than thirty books as well, including "The Hispanic United States: Deeply Woven into the Nation's Tapestry" in 2017 and "Cantos al encuentro/Cantos to Encounters: bilingual Anthology" in 2020, which won a Bronze Medal from the International Latino Best Book Award. His book "Anthology/2020" was also recognized with a Gold Medal by the International Latino Best Book Award.

Among his professional accomplishments, Dr. Ambroggio won the 2004 Spanish TV Award for his poems and received a Recognition of Excellence from the Prometheus Poetry Association in Madrid, Spain. He later received an Excellence Award for his literary and philanthropic contributions to the Washington, DC area and was admitted to the Order of the Discoverers. He was honored with the Abraham Lincoln Medal and the Premio Simon Bolivar Prize in 2010, later achieving the Trilce Medal from the Institute Vallejiano in 2016 as well.

Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Dr. Ambroggio earned a Master of Arts and subsequently a Master of Business Administration from Virginia Tech. He then attained a Doctor of Philosophy (AbD) in social science from the Catholic University of America. Prior to immigrating to the United States in 1967, he also gained a Doctor of Philosophy in Argentina.

Within the coming years, Dr. Ambroggio intends to continue his philanthropy work and involvement in the community. He is a continual activist for the Hispanic population in the United States as well, helping students, community centers and universities in need of his unique viewpoint and expertise.
