Mr. McCraw is the president of the Detroit chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists.

A seasoned journalist and editor with years of expertise in line editing, coaching, story editing, and more, Mr. McCraw presently excels as the region II manager for Report for America. Previously, he founded VDM Consulting LLC, where he worked as chief executive officer. Between 2020 and 2021, he provided editing, copy editing, news release writing, and digital content production services. Likewise, Mr. McCraw worked for The Detroit News in numerous roles, including digital desk breaking news editor and producer, and assistant city editor.
During the early stages of his career, Mr. McCraw gained valuable expertise as a reporter covering government, politics, and civic and community affairs through The Washington Times and The Atlanta Daily World. Driven to remain abreast of changes in the field, he is a member of the Detroit chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists, where he is a member of the board of directors, and Outlier Media, through which he is a member of the advisory board. Similarly, Mr. McCraw is the president of the Detroit chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists.
Throughout his career, Mr. McCraw has been affiliated with several organizations, including the Asian American Journalists Association and the Morehouse College National Alumni Association. An expert in his field, he holds a Bachelor of Arts in mass communications from Morehouse College. In light of his outstanding body of work, he was honored with the Working in the Spirit of Diversity Award through Wayne State University.
