FRANKLIN, TN, February 08, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Derrick L. Solomon has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Serving as the executive director of the Hard Bargain Association (HBA) in Franklin, Tennessee, since 2020, Mr. Solomon follows in the association's mission to preserve, restore, and transform the 150-year-old African American neighborhood that is best known as "Hard Bargain." Recognized a grassroots, nonprofit organization, the HBA's goals are to ultimately create a more diverse and vivacious area by way of attainable housing and community development. Comprised of more than a dozen board members that work collectively to represent the organization, Mr. Solomon and the team's goal is to also preserve its Community Housing Development Organization status with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
The HBA presently has several projects underway and is also involved with the Tennessee Housing Development Agency. Looking toward the future, Mr. Solomon is eager to continue making a positive impact on the area through their work, namely by erecting approximately 30 additional homes within the next five years.
Mr. Solomon previously spent more than a decade in telecommunications at Comcast Corporation. Rising through the ranks, he began serving as a tier-one internet protocol technical support specialist in 2008 before being promoted to a tier-two internet network specialist in 2010. Subsequently named as an Xfinity sales team lead from 2016 to 2019, he also gained expertise as an assistant store manager between 2019 and 2020. During an earlier stage of his career, Mr. Solomon worked in retail in the car and grocery/food industries.
Avid of local involvement, Mr. Solomon has been active as a technical specialist and Block Captain volunteer for the Boys & Girls Club of Middle Tennessee and as a co-pack leader for his local Boy Scouts of Middle Tennessee. Mr. Solomon has also been engaged as a community leader for Leadership Franklin and as a city task force member with the City of Franklin, Tennessee.
Mr. Solomon completed the Leadership Franklin program from 2022 -2023. The organization offers a series of leadership development classes throughout the year through which participants are required to complete one full year of sessions. Mr. Solomon also garnered credentials as a certified emerging nonprofit leader through the Center for Nonprofit Management and as a certified agile Scrum professional and Lean Six Sigma Green Belt through the Star 6 Sigma Global Academy LLC. Additionally, he received a technical certification in internet protocol through Comcast University and a business office technology certification in business office technology through the Shreveport Job Corps.
In recognition of his efforts, Mr. Solomon was named the Philosophic Hero of the Year for Williamson County in 2022.
