Kenneth O. Preston Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

SMA Preston is presently a senior fellow of the Association of the United States Army (AUSA), a nonprofit educational organization.

Preston with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, SMA Preston celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. Attributing his success to his servant leadership, SMA Preston is presently a senior fellow of the Association of the United States Army (AUSA), a nonprofit educational organization, since 2020. His role comes after serving as the director and vice president of NCO and soldier programs for the organization for seven previous years beginning in 2013. Additionally, SMA Preston has been active as a military advisor for Veterans United Home Loans and Veterans United Realty LLC, which specializes in helping U.S. veterans, since 2015.

Prior to his commitments at AUSA, SMA Preston served as the president and CEO of Home for Our Troops, a nonprofit organization devoted to building custom houses for severely injured post-9/11 veterans throughout the country, between 2012 and 2013. SMA Preston continues to serve on the organization's board since 2011.

Having served in the U.S. Army for more than 36 years, SMA Preston notably retired in 2011 as the 13th Sergeant Major of the Army. During his distinguished career in the military, he held various leadership positions, including command sergeant major of the 3rd Battalion of the 8th Calvary Regiment, 1st Calvary Division, as command sergeant major of the 3rd "Greywolf" Brigade, 1st Calvary Division, as command sergeant major of the 1st Armored Division, and as command sergeant major of the V Corps and Combined Joint Task Force 7. In 2004, SMA Preston was named the 13th sergeant major of the U.S. Army where he remained until retirement.

SMA Preston has been active with a multitude of nonprofit, charitable, and religious organizations, including the Institute for Veterans and Military Families, which serves to teach military veterans how to become entrepreneurs. Presently, SMA Preston remains active as a board member and director for the Army Historical Foundation since 2013, treasurer for Saint George's Episcopal Church since 2014, and director for the Eagle's Watch Foundation since 2021.

SMA Preston achieved an Associate of Arts in vocational education and instruction from the University of Louisville in 1989, followed by military studies at the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy from 1995 to 1996. Returning to college several years later, SMA Preston garnered a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts, followed by a Master of Business Administration, from Trident University International in 2007 and 2009, respectively, and pursued coursework in automotive mechanics technology from the Lincoln College of Technology between 2020 and 2021.

Honoring his achievement, SMA Preston received the coveted George C. Marshall Award from AUSA. Recognized as the highest accolade given by the organization, it recognizes individuals that have made significant contributions to the U.S. Army, its soldiers, and the nation. SMA Preston was the first enlisted soldier to ever receive the award. Among other honors, he was decorated with a U.S. Army Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit with one oak leaf cluster, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with three oak leaf clusters, and, among dozens of others, 11 Good Conduct Medals. SMA Preston attributes his success to having great leaders.
