An accomplished listee, Dr. Bohle celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. After a distinguished tenure in higher education, Dr. Bohle retired from the field. Recognized as an emeritus professor by the University of North Florida in the School of Communication in Jacksonville, Florida, in 2019, he was a faculty member for 20 years. During his tenure on campus, he taught courses in writing, editing, newspaper and advertising design, and research methods. While employed by the university, Dr. Bohle also served as the owner and chief executive officer of the News Design School, an online educational site primarily for newspaper journalists, from 2008 to 2014 and was a successful social media consultant on behalf of Prudential Network Realty (now Berkshire Hathaway) in Jacksonville between 2011 and 2012.

In 2015, Dr. Bohle began painting. A passion of his for many years, he established RobertBohleArt.com as the owner, trainer, and chief artist. Primarily painting abstract artwork in acrylic, he is also experienced in design and typography. Dr. Bohle has notably sold over a dozen works of art and hosts a dedicated website, which showcases his art-media work and features his blog. Additionally, his work has been on display in seven juried group art shows.

Dr. Bohle previously held academic and administrative appointments at several other institutions between 1974 and 1995, including Virginia Commonwealth University, the College of the Sequoias, Palomar College, and Orange Coast College. He also taught English and journalism at Monache High School in Porterville, California, from 1972 to 1974. During an earlier stage of his career, Dr. Bohle earned experience as a sports reporter and copy desk, copy clerk, and news copy clerk at the Long Beach Independent between 1968 and 1972.

Among his notable projects, Dr. Bohle authored the first edition of "From News to Newsprint" in 1984, "Publication Design for Editors," in 1992, and built his first two websites, including a commercial website in 1994 and an educational website in 1995 for VCU's School of Mass Communications. Additionally, he narrated his first film in 2014, which was subsequently featured at the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Dr. Bohle also participated in numerous other projects during his career, most notably a significant research project on color in newspapers for the Poynter Institute in Florida.

In a volunteer capacity, Dr. Bohle served as an Ombudsman, an advocate for people living in a long-term care facility in Florida. He has also lent his photography skills to the Labrador Retriever Rescue of Florida Inc. to help dogs find their forever homes.

Dr. Bohle studied at California State University in Long Beach, earning a BA in English and creative writing, cum laude, in 1970 and a Master of Art in English literature in 1972. He also attended the University of Tennessee, through which he received a Doctor of Philosophy in communications in 1984. Dr. Bohle notably received a Gannett Foundation Graduation scholarship in 1982 to help fund his tuition. Additional educational pursuits to his credit include a certificate in project management in 2007 through the University of North Florida continuing education program.

As a part of his continued commitments to his industry, Dr. Bohle was a member of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communications and the Society for News Design's education committee. He also served as DESIGN magazine's research editor.

Honoring his accomplishments, Dr. Bohle was named an Outstanding Young Man in America by the U.S. Jaycees in 1982 and received a Presidential Citation from the College Media Advisers Inc. in 1983. He also secured a grant from the Freedom Forum.
