Leveraging more than three decades of excellence in international travel, Mr. Distefano has earned distinction as the president and chief executive officer of Distefano Insurance Services. Additionally, he is the president and chief executive officer of Distefano Enterprises Inc., having provided tours, hospitality and hotel accommodation services since 1970. A well-traveled person himself, he gives photographs and information on various tours he's taken personally, enabling him to recommend them to his clients effectively. Also dedicated to civil advocacy, he was appointed a public advocate by the governor of California and has served as a board member of the Sonoma Developmental Center for 15 years.
Outside of his primary career efforts, Mr. Distefano has served as the president and chief executive officer of Tour and Travel Organizers Ltd. and similarly has been the president of World Traveler News, both since 1980. As part of his dedication to his publication, he is a valued member of the News Leaders Association, the International Association of Travel Agents Network, the American Society of News Editors and the Committee to Protect Journalists, among other professional organizations.
Over the course of his career, Mr. Distefano has also written numerous articles for World Traveler News and other professional magazines and publications. Most recently, he has written pieces on Guizhou Province, China in 2017, The Czech Republic in 2015 and "Ethiopia - A Country of Mystery & Marvels" in 2014. An accomplished photographer as well, he has lent his talents to music artists in concerts and has published four photobooks.
Among his most cherished accomplishments, Mr. Distefano is proud to have received numerous awards for his stellar work with World Traveler News. During his long term as president of Chilpancingo Vista Inc it was awarded for being a model apartment complex for disabled individuals by Housing and Urban Development. Additionally, World Traveler News was named the Best International Travel Magazine by various entities from 2021 through 2023. For his photography skills, he was named Photojournalist of the Year by Luxe Life Magazine in 2021.
Prior to his current role, Mr. Distefano began his career as a sales representative for The Hartford Insurance Group and was later promoted to a regional manager. Prior to embarking on his professional journey, he completed coursework in business administration, management and operations at Orange Coast College. Well-qualified in his field, he is a registered health underwriter, verified travel consultant and certified professional insurance agent.
Within the coming years, Mr. Distefano intends to continue to travel, enjoying the various travel industry conferences around the world. Among other goals in the near future, he plans to attend the Thailand Travel Mart Plus conference, secure an invitation to a conference in Colombia in September and to visit Kenya in October.
