Nina Milkova Ilieva Celebrated for Dedication to the Field of Architecture and Urbanism



    NEW YORK, NY, April 12, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Nina Ilieva has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Nina Milkova Ilieva is a registered architect both in Europe and USA, with more than 20 years professional experience, ranging from remodeling and renovations in Manhattan, to large scale urban design projects in US, Europe and UAE. She is also a founder and principal of ILIEVA LLC and Adaptations LLC with offices in New York/USA and Sofia/Bulgaria, which are distinguished with multiple national and international awards such as: Europe 40 under 40, that celebrates the next new talented generation of European architects, as well as First Award in Global Architecture & Design Awards in 2022 from RTF (Rethinking the Future Awards), and Global Award for Sustainable Cities and Human Settlements at the (GFHS-XII) forum, for implementing successfully 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. As an architect, urban planner, educator and activist, she has been focusing on implementing the Sustainable Development Goal 11, with a mission to make our cities and communities more inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable, and was also a member of GAP (General Assembly of Partners) to the UN. Nina Ilieva has been working for more than a decade, bringing the international awareness about the biggest European transnational minority group (Romani people), currently still living in poor socio-economic conditions, unacceptable for the 21st century. Her project for Sustainable development of Romani neighborhood in Bulgaria was published in large-scale academic literature – "The Library of Global Forum on Human Settlements" (Volume I & II, bilingual in both Chinese and English). These Volumes summarize and highlight excellent academic ideas, wisdom as well as practices that affect sustainable cities and human settlements around the globe, so as to provide reference for stakeholders and young students, and to promote broader and deeper sharing, learning and thinking, as well as knowledge creation. The books include the best examples of 40 green cities from 6 continents, 30 well-known academic experts, state and government leaders, entrepreneurs, UN officials and others. Her projects and research appears in books and conference proceedings such as: "Urban Languages: Tales and Images of Spatial Justice," "Unplanned-research and experiments at the urban scale," "Urban Transformations in South-Eastern Europe," "Urbanism beyond Dubai" and "Climate Change and Urban Design" and "The third annual conference of climate change and urban design," among others.

She has extensive experience teaching in colleges and institutions in both the USA and Europe. Throughout her career she has achieved a strong track record of professional innovative design work, research and leadership. Her work was published, presented and exhibited nationally and internationally at venues such as: Venice Biennale, Los Angeles Pacific Design Center, Council of European Urbanism in Oslo, Norway, European Commission in Sofia, Bulgaria, New York Festival of Ideas, Sofia Architecture Week, Institute of Creative Sustainability in Berlin, University in Tirana, Albania, and TU Delft, among others. She was also awarded with the Faculty Merit Development Award Fund by Parsons at the New School for Design, and has been invited for juries, workshops and critiques at Pratt, NYIT, Columbia University, Princeton, SCIARC, Dessau Institute of Architecture in Germany, UACG (University of Architecture Civil Engineering and Geodesy) in Bulgaria among others.

Nina Milkova Ilieva is originally from Sofia, Bulgaria and she immigrated to the USA with her parents, both physicists, after the fall of the Berlin Wall.
