Previously, he worked as the production manager for LG&E and KU Energy LLC. During the early stages of his career, Mr. Slaughter gained valuable professional expertise with the North Oldham Fire Protection District, the Harrods Creek Fire Department, the Lagrange Fire Department, and the Pleasure Ridge Park Fire District.
Outside of his work, Mr. Slaughter worked with Crusade for Children, which benefits the Kosair Hospital for children and Angels in Disguise. He attended JCT, IU Southeast and holds a bachelor's degree from Whiskey University. In recognition of his outstanding body of work, he won several letters of recognition and commendation, the Firefighter of the Year Award in 1995, 2005 and 2008, and the Exemplary Service Award. Likewise, he received a Technology Transfer Award from the Electric Power Research Institute in 2017.
Though his career has been filled with highlights, Mr. Slaughter takes the most pride in working his way from the ground up in the utility industry. He started as a helper and worked his way up to system operator, production leader, production supervisor, and eventually production manager. He is also proud of the support from his family. While hard work and dedication have brought him far, he credits his success to his work ethic, his desire to better himself, and his drive to help others. In the coming years, Mr. Slaughter intends to enjoy more time with his wife and travel more.
