From 2003 and until her retirement in 2022, she found much success as a clinical social worker at the Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice in Jackson, Michigan. Prior to this role, she was active as a real estate office manager at Red Carpet Keim Santi Realty from 1991 to 2003, followed by a post of a consumer energy contractor at Motorola between 1987 and 1990. Ms. McClurg initially began her career serving as a cake decorator at Meijer Inc. from 1979 until 1984.

Prior to embarking on her professional journey, Ms. McClurg pursued an education at Jackson College, where she obtained an associate's degree in social work in 2001. She continued her academic efforts at Spring Arbor University, earning a bachelor's degree in social work in 2003, followed by a master's degree in clinical and medical social work from Michigan State University in 2007. As a commitment to her field, she has been licensed as a clinical and a master social worker since 2012. Additionally, she has been active with several industry-related organizations, including the National Association of Social Workers and the Phi Theta Honor Society. Likewise dedicated to civic advocacy, Ms. McClurg volunteers at the local hospice facilities in her community and assists grieving families and those who have experiences trauma.

Well-regarded for her contributions to the field, Ms. McClurg has received multiple awards, including the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award and the Marquis Who's Who Humanitarian Award. Moreover, she has been recognized as a Marquis Who's Who Top Professional and featured in the Wall Street Journal and the Millennium Magazine. Among her professional accomplishments, she is most proud to have been selected as one of two students to represent community colleges for the All-USA Academic Team in 2001. Reflecting on a long career, Ms. McClurg attributes much of her success to her perseverance as a cancer survivor, in addition to her parents and her late husband, Ronald, who inspired and supported her in all her endeavors.
