HAMPSTEAD, NH, May 09, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Mona Dickson Jensen, PhD, is a distinguished biographee of Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are chosen from among a pool of the most prominent professionals and are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Dr. Jensen is a genealogy researcher, biochemist and author as well as the co-founder and president of Jensen Craft Enterprises Inc., a venture she helped initiate in 1998. Across these distinct platforms, she has made profound contributions to the discipline of clinical chemistry, in both human and veterinary fields, and deployed a lifelong interest in math and sciences to the comprehensive benefit of diverse scholarly projects.

Dr. Jensen found inspiration in her mother's example of independence and determination. Her mother, in fact, abandoned her own pursuit of a PhD in mathematics at the start of World War II; in her honor, Dr. Jensen became a pioneer by breaking gender barriers at both the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in 1966, and at Cornell University, where she completed a PhD in biochemistry at the medical school in 1973. Dr. Jensen accumulated additional academic honors by completing a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in finance at Babson College in 1983.

At MIT, Dr. Jensen was one of only a few women pursuing academic excellence in the sciences at the time. She then began building a distinguished professional profile, first as a senior scientist with Instrumentation Laboratory, from 1972 to 1979, then she transitioned to a project manager role that continued through 1986. In 1986, Dr. Jensen was appointed as the manager of reagent systems applications at the same firm before accepting a promotion to senior research and development manager in 1988.

In 1995, Dr. Jensen took the position of scientific support and applications manager for the Clinical Chemistry Strategic Business Unit at Instrumentation Laboratory, a position she held until 1996, when she joined a start-up company in the Boston area. In 2001, IDEXX Laboratory Inc. recruited her as a research scientist and she was manager of clinical chemistry research and development for the veterinary unit in Westbrook, Maine, between 2004 and 2012.

A strong believer in education and service, Dr. Jensen has committed to instructional appointments, including being part of the adjunct faculty of W. Alton Jones Cell Science Center from 1974 to 1976. She also served as a special reviewer for In Vitro between 1980 and 1981 as well as a proposal reviewer for the National Science Foundation between 1983 and 1986. Notably, Dr. Jensen became an acting sub-communications adviser for the National Committee Clinical Laboratory Standards, in 1991.

Dr. Jensen is a productive researcher and prolific writer; for example, she was a contributing author of chapters in "Cell Culture and Its Application," published in 1977, and "Practical Tissue Culture Applications," dating to 1979, and she has collaborated on other papers for dissemination in relevant scholarly and trade publications and conducted pioneering research on environmental control in cell culture. Moreover, she is pleased to have recently completed a second volume of her genealogy research findings and is currently pursuing the completion of a third installment. Dr. Jensen is also gratified to have been granted two patents. She was also a church pianist/organist for over 30 years.
