Ms. Strong is a certified pharmaceutical auditor currently serving as a quality systems and compliance manager for Khemia Manufacturing, a woman-owned artisanal cannabis products company marketing to California. As quality systems and compliance manager, Ms. Strong is responsible for ensuring high standards of safety and sanitation in manufacturing, including adherence to all local and federal regulations, overseeing staff training, and reviewing operational procedures. She is an expert in microbiology, contamination control, and cause analysis, and has been a leader in the pharmaceutical and cannabis industries for more than 20 years.
In early 2020, Sherry designed a comprehensive safety plan to successfully open the only outdoor recreation facility in California during the first year of the Covid-19 pandemic. Sherry used her expertise in pharmaceutical manufacturing microbiology, infection control and compliance to develop a comprehensive plan to ensure the safety of park customers and staff. This was an excellent example of how businesses can adapt and thrive during challenging times. Sherry also worked at that time as a consultant to develop and implement Covid-19 Pandemic safety plans for multiple local businesses.
A graduate of the University of California Davis, Ms. Strong holds a Bachelor of Science in food science, and earned an additional diploma in cannabis from Oaksterdam University, where she graduated with honors in 2017. Ms. Strong sits on the advisory board of both Khemia Manufacturing and the Kratom Vendors Association, and has been a freelance cannabis advocate and consultant since 2017. She is a partner in Whole Plant Plus, a topical cannabis products manufacturer, and she hopes to expand her work in topicals in the coming years. Prior to entering the cannabis industry, Ms. Strong was an environmental quality assurance professional and risk management specialist with Genentech and a quality control microbiologist and project manager for Mylan Specialty. She began her career in pharmaceutical manufacturing in 1999 as a microbiologist for Dey Pharma, L.P., where she would remain for the next six years.
Outside her professional work in the cannabis industry, Ms. Strong has served as a community advocate for cannabis legalization and access for the last four decades. Sherry assists more than 40 people with medical needs appropriate for cannabis use and pairs them with physicians and medical cannabis growers. She works in conjunction with a leading global cannabis medical researcher, Justin Kander, to tailor cannabis care for various medical and sleep conditions with an emphasis on working with seniors, low income families and individuals.
In her personal time, she enjoys traveling, hiking, and cooking.
