Drawing on nearly 40 years of experience in human resources, Mrs. Durkin is recognized for her leadership as chief human resources officer for Aim Transportation Solutions. To this role, she brings substantial expertise in benefits, employee engagement, recruiting and strategic development, honed over a successful career of increasingly senior roles with her company. In her 18 years with Aim Transportation Solutions, her priorities have included establishing programs for learning and development, developing a new customer service program, and ensuring the highest-quality employee programs and benefits. Before joining her employer in 2006, Mrs. Durkin spent 15 years as a human resource manager for Denman Tire and served as an account executive for the Ohio Bureau of Employment Services.
Mrs. Durkin's performance in the field was born of her academic journey. After earning her high school diploma from Youngstown's Ursuline High School, she attended Youngstown State University, obtaining an associate degree in business management in 1986 and a Bachelor of Applied Science in human resources in 1990. In 2006, she received her Professional Human Resource (PHR) certification.
To commemorate her professional accomplishments, Mrs. Durkin was nominated for a 2017 Athena Award through her local chamber of commerce. She attributes her success to her mentors, whose guidance throughout her career has been invaluable. Her parents laid the foundation for her spiritual development to accomplish a successful work/life balance. As she nears retirement, she is excited to take on more speaking engagements related to human resources, wellness and retention, and dedicate more time to helping others in her field.
Mrs. Durkin is active with several industry-related organizations, including the Society for Human Resource Management and Trumbull County Workforce Investment Board. A volunteer within her local community, she is involved with both Relay for Life and the United Way through her employer, and she is active with her church. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family, including her husband Richard, many siblings and great-nieces and -nephews, and thrifting and refinishing furniture.
