Well-regarded for his scholarly prowess, he co-authored a geoscience training manual that specifically dealt with the exploration potential of granite or "basement" rocks – the latter term referring to crystalline formations that lay above the mantle and beneath all other rocks and sediments. Additionally, he published technical and editorial articles that have appeared via such media outlets as the Oil and Gas Journal, the AAPG Explorer, the Financial Times and the VOA Radio program.
To remain aware of developments in his field, Dr. Bhattacharjee remains active with such organizations as the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, the Society of Exploration Geophysicists, the Houston Geological Society and the Geophysical Society of Houston, as well as several foreign geological groups.
Outside of his work in the oil and gas sector, Dr. Bhattacharjee has served as the elected president of Municipal Utility District 118 in Houston, Texas, for over 25 years, during which time he managed assets in excess of $200 million. Notably, the asset value of the district doubled under his management over the years. Other civic positions to Dr. Bhattacharjee's credit have included his roles as elected VP of local HOA, a precinct chair and election judge for federal and state-level elections over the course of 15 years. Likewise, he has been deeply involved in advocating the cause of human rights with the U.S. State Department, lobbied for the passage of bills in the U.S. Congress, spoken before numerous audiences on the subjects of political and health awareness, volunteered with immigrant resettlement campaigns, and been active with his local place of worship.
Before embarking upon his professional journey, Dr. Bhattacharjee studied geology and applied geophysics at Dhaka University, from which he received a Bachelor of Science. Following this accomplishment, he continued his studies in the same subjects at Punjab University Lahore, where he earned a master's degree. Dr. Bhattacharjee ultimately completed his academic efforts at the California State University, from which he graduated with a Doctor of Philosophy in 2022. Well-qualified in his field, he is a certified petroleum geologist, and is proficient in many foreign languages.
In accounting for his success, Dr. Bhattacharjee largely credits his open-minded outlook, his earnestly frank demeanor, and his ability to properly leverage the knowledge he has accumulated in the field.
