Drawing on years of professional experience, Ms. Weiss presently excels as the regional managing partner for Latin America and the Caribbean for Kennedys. Previously, she worked for the firm as a partner and head of construction, having joined Kennedys Miami office in 2013 as an associate. During the early stages of her legal career, she gained valuable expertise in the legal field in London. Immediately prior to her relocation to the US, she lead the non-contentious construction team with Olswang, after several years as in-house counsel leading on various corporate and commercial legal issues at US entertainment company AEG, having started her legal career in 2003 as a trainee at Herbert Smith, whereupon she qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales in 2005 and became an associate with Herbert Smith. She has had a very diverse and fulfilling legal career which encompasses both the corporate and commercial space, especially in the construction sector, and now also provides complex coverage advice on various types of insurance and reinsurance claims across Latin America and the Caribbean, some relating to construction risks, but also on other lines of business like property, casualty and political risk. Driven to remain abreast of changes in the field, Ms. Weiss co-founded the Society of Construction Law in America and aligns herself with the Construction Lawyers Society of America. An expert in her field, she holds an LLB in Law and French from the University of Bristol, where she also spent a year studying French Law at the Universite de Poitiers and then undertook her legal practice course at Oxford Institute of Legal Practice, partnering with Oxford University. In light of her outstanding body of work, Ms. Weiss was named a Legal 500 Recommended Lawyer in 2022 and 2023.
While her career has been filled with highlights, Ms. Weiss takes the most pride in merging her technical legal background and her commercial experiences in business. She is proud of being involved in the opening of The O2 in the UK during her time at AEG. Though hard work and dedication have brought her far, she credits her success to being authentic, enjoying collaborating globally finding and pursuing opportunities outside of her comfort zone, taking on new challenges even in languages where she was not native. In the coming years, Ms. Weiss intends to lead and manage a growing region, expand the firm's offerings both geographically and in areas of work to better service their clients, further developing a growing corporate and commercial practice in Latin America and the Caribbean.
