NEWTON, KS, June 21, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Michael L. Ross has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

With more than three decades of excellence in software engineering, Mr. Ross has earned distinction as a historical fiction author with HistoricalNovelsRUs. Since 2017, he has focused his efforts on creating a narrative about how American society was in the Civil War era and how it evolved through the scourge of prejudice. He also was the treasurer for Historical Novel Society from 2019 until 2021, leaving the position to help his wife care for her 93-year-old father.

Over the course of his career, Mr. Ross has authored numerous short stories as well as the biography for the Texas State Historical Association in 2019. Having been writing short stories since he was 14 years old, he didn't take writing seriously as a career option until 2019 when he published the first "Across the Great Divide" book with HarperCollins.

In recognition of his stellar writing, Mr. Ross was an American War Finalist in historical fiction for his book "Across the Great Divide: The Clouds of War" from the Coffee Pot Book Club in 2020. He also won the Book of the Year Award for the same work. He is proud that his books have turned people's attention to prejudice and the evil it has caused in the country, in the Civil War era and in the present.

Prior to his authorial efforts with HistoricalNovelsRUs, Mr. Ross began his career as a member of the technical staff for the computer sciences corporation of NASA/Langley in 1976 and became a digital equipment and senior software engineer for Nashua in 1979. Following this time, he served as a manager of languages for Masscomp in 1984 until becoming a senior software engineer for Apollo Computer in 1985. He continued his career as a software engineer and manager for Metaware Inc. in 1990 and took a role as a compiler construction engineer with Intel in 1996. In 2013, he served as an adjunct professor for Portland Community College.

Before starting his professional journey, Mr. Ross earned a Bachelor of Arts in mathematical science and German from Rice University in 1976. Following this achievement, he attained a Master of Science in software engineering from Portland State University in 2011.

Looking to the future, Mr. Ross intends to continue writing as a member of The Paper Lantern Writers and plans to release a historical fiction anthology this fall. He is presently crafting a story about an individual who fought in the Battle of the Bulge and fell in love with a brave nurse and has two other novels in earlier stages of development. One of these regards a 10-year-old drummer boy named Billy Sims who was involved in the New Hampshire Pine Tree Riot of 1772 and the other is about Mary Ann Bickerdyke, a Civil War nurse who started 350 hospitals and saved countless lives through her efforts. He also began wiring a memoir on his mother, who contracted polio at 21 and became a missionary to Honduras and China during the Tiananmen Square incident.
