Since 2009, she has focused her efforts on designing programs that help developing countries to improve their environmental policies. Under her leadership, UNDP was the first entity within the United Nations to develop a publication in 2011 determining that women need to be considered when they begin designing, implementing and monitoring chemical programs. Additionally, she helps ensure that proper social and environmental safeguards are included in UNDP's programming on chemicals waste.
Prior to her current role, Mrs. Kapadia began her career as an analyst with Capgemini in 2001 and with UNDP India in 2006. She continued her career ensuring access to financial services for the poor at UNCDF in 2006. She also served on the board of directors and editorial board for the Microfinance Club of New York Inc. and the LSE International Relations Journal.
To prepare for her career, Mrs. Kapadia earned a Bachelor of Science in international business and marketing from the NYU Stern School of Business in 2000. Following this achievement, she attained a Master of Science in global politics from The London School of Economics and Political Science in 2005.
Within the coming years, Mrs. Kapadia intends to continue her work improving the world for future generations, as well as regarding women's gender equality and women's empowerment. She has spent her career integrating gender considerations in the programming she leads on chemical and waste management, ensuring that the quality of her field remains high and that they are not causing any inadvertent harm to communities or individuals in their work.
