Since 2023, he has found much success as an adjunct professor at Palm Beach State College. In addition to his primary vocation, he has also been active as a teacher for the School District of Palm Beach County as of 2017. Prior to this role, he served as an adjunct professor at Barry University from 2015 until 2020 and as Assistant Professor at Nova Southeastern University between 2004 and 2009. In his career-related endeavors, Dr. Linstroth has authored such works as Marching Against Gender Practice: Political Imaginings in the Basqueland (2015) and Politics and Racism Beyond Nations: A Multidisciplinary Approach to Crises (2022).
Additionally, Dr. Linstroth has published creative works which have been recognized by the organization, Poets & Writers. These include: The Forgotten Shore (2018), a book of poetry; Epochal Reckonings (2020), Winner of the International Proverse Prize; and Swimming in Blue Shadows: A Collection of Short Stories and Poetry (2022), Winner of the Proverse Supplemental Prize. Moreover, he published a novella, Cumulus.
Before embarking on his professional journey, Dr. Linstroth pursued an education at the College of the Holy Cross, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in political science and Spanish, Phi Sigma Iota Honors. He continued his academic efforts at Florida State University, earning a Master of Arts in cultural anthropology in 1994, followed by a Doctor of Philosophy in social and cultural anthropology from the University of Oxford in 2004.
As a commitment to his field, he has been active with several industry-related organizations, including the Royal Anthropological Institute, the American Anthropological Association and the Anthropology Honor Society, among others. Likewise dedicated to civic advocacy, Dr. Linstroth has served as a board member for the International Peace Research Association Foundation (IPRAF) and an executive director of The Guatemalan-Maya Center.
Well-regarded for his contributions to the field, Dr. Linstroth has received multiple awards, including the United States Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award for National and Community Service and a J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholar Award to Brazil and to be a visiting professor at the Universidade Federal do Amazonas (UFAM) and an Alexander Von Humboldt Grant (co-recipient). Among his professional accomplishments, he is most proud of his accolades, publishing his books and to have been awarded so many academic honors. Furthermore, he is gratified to have been a signatory of the Brussels Declaration for Peace to end the Euskadi Ta Askatasuna (ETA) terrorism and violence in 2010 while he worked as a Senior Researcher at the prestigious Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO) in Norway.
As an academic, Dr. Linstroth has been invited to lecture all over the world including in Australia, Norway, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States. He has likewise published many "opinion editorials" (Op-Eds) in various newspapers and online news sources, such as CounterPunch, Des Moine Register, Euroscientist, L.A. Progressive, PeaceVoice, The Houston Chronicle, and Londonderry Sentinel.
What is more, Dr. Linstroth has conducted research in Spain among the Spanish-Basques, in the United States with Cuban-American, Haitian-American, and Guatemalan-Mayan-Americans, and in Brazil among urban Amerindian peoples. His many research interests include cognition, conflict avoidance, ethnonationalism, gender, genocide, history, immigrant advocacy, indigeneity, indigenous politics, indigenous rights, love, memory, minority rights, peace, peacebuilding, racism, social justice, terrorism, and trauma.
Reflecting on his career, he attributes much of his success to his family, perseverance and passion for his specialty. Looking toward the future, Dr. Linstroth aspires to publish a new book every year and hopes to achieve recognition for his literary work.
