Dr. Daniel Chidubem Gbujie Recognized for Contributions to the Field of Climate Advocacy and Nonprofit Administration

In his capacity with the organization, Dr. Gbujie has cultivated a talent for mobilizing others and creating community based projects, ideas and events that heighten awareness and inspires solutions among vulnerable populations especially young people–the future stewards of the planet.

Known for his contributions as a civic-minded citizen of the world, Dr. Gbujie has earned distinction in numerous roles across both the domestic and international spectrum. In addition to current affiliations as a member of the Nigerian American Public Affairs Committee, the UN SDGs ambassador, and a member of the International Forum of Bioethic Teachers, he previously has collaborated and worked with some international organizations like United Nations Children's Fund, (UNICEF), UN Global Communications Civil Society Division, Office of the Secretary-General's Envoy on Youth, African Union Youth Envoy Office, the World Bank Youth Summit, the Global Entrepreneurs and Leaders Academy of Nigeria, the Stevenson Holistic Care Foundation, Western Washington University, Hallmark International, Parvati.org, and the Universal Peace Federation, among many others. Additionally, leveraging his extensive experience in the healthcare sector, Dr. Gbujie is a global health and public health consultant who volunteered as a public health campaigner and support staff during the COVID-19 pandemic in an Africans coalition led by the African Union former Ambassador Dr. Arikana Chihombori-Quao throughout which time he lent his aid to stranded Africans and immigrants who were unable to return to their home countries due to travel restrictions. Outside of his nonprofit endeavors, Dr. Gbujie was involved over the course of 15 years in the field of healthcare, most recently as a clinical research compliance specialist at Sanford Health between 2022 and 2023. He is currently one of the youngest African clinical collaborators with the Institute of Health Metrics and Evaluation at the University of Washington and lectures on the SDGs at Western Washington University (WWU or Western) in Bellingham, Washington, and a honorary special adviser to Liberia Ministry of Youth and Sport. Throughout much of his career, during which time he specialized in public health and clinical research and will be adding Masters degrees in business Administrations in few months.

Dr. Gbujie worked for multiple years in his native country of Nigeria, including as an intern, resident doctor in the department of Oral Maxillofacial Surgery to the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, National Secretary General of Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors of Nigeria, Publicity Director to World Medical Association-Junior Doctor Network, Public Health Instructor during the Ebola epidemic to the Rivers State Government and a dental officer at the General Hospital of Ogoni Rivers State.

Known for his scholarly output, Dr. Gbujie has authored numerous works of relevance to his careers in both environmental advocacy and healthcare, including "Urban Tree Planting: A Guide for Civic Projects in Vojvodina" via Cornell University, as well as several articles that were published through the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the Nigerian Quarterly Journal of Hospital Medicine. To remain aware of developments in the field, he has remained active with several organizations, including the World Medical Association, the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors, and the Nigerian Dental Association, with previous affiliations with the American Public Health Student Association and the International Society of Oral Implantology.

To commemorate his accomplishments, Dr. Gbujie has garnered several accolades. Among them, he was most recently bestowed with the President's Volunteer Golden Service Award in 2023, which honored his contributions to the cause of public health. Previously, he received a Quantic Sprada Emerging Leaders Award from the Quantic School of Business and Technology and a Letter of Appreciation from President Joe Biden in 2022, along with an invitation to participate in the U.S.-Africa Leaders' Summit. Other plaudits to his credit include the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP),'s Mid-Manhattan Branch Global Environmental Climate Justice Award 2022, Four Directions African Leadership Award 2022, the Young Pacesetter of Africa Award 2022, the Manevia African Diaspora Leadership Award 2021, the Nigerian Government Diaspora Award of Outstanding Excellence 2021, United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs Space4SDGs Awards in 2019, among many others. Prior to embarking upon his professional journey, Dr. Gbujie studied dental surgery at the University of Ibadan, from which he earned a Bachelor of Science in 2005. Two decades later, he continued his academic pursuits at Southern New Hampshire University, graduating with a Master of Public Health and Global Health in 2022 and presently, he is pursuing a Master of Business Administration at the Quantic School of Business and Technology. Extensively well-qualified in his various areas of expertise, he has also been certified in clinical trial management systems, global disease research, executive and advanced public leadership, climate change education and science and bioethics from a number of organizations.

In accounting for his success, Dr. Gbujie largely credits the influence of his wife Dr. Ezioma and his children (Kendu, Kamsi and Kobi), mother (Deaconess Joy Gbujie), his strong religious Christian faith, and the tutelage of other community and diplomatic leaders. Looking toward the years ahead, he aspires to expand the scope of his operations and serve as a mentor to other young people especially environmental advocates. Within the next 10 years, he hopes to create a yearly summit that can function as a forum through which to discuss the ongoing climate crisis and global challenges in Africa while proffering plans to resolve them for the future.
