ATHENS, GA, June 30, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dan A. Bartlett has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. Bartlett celebrates more than 50 years as a certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA), treating patients at Saint Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital since 2008. As an independent practitioner, he works alongside physicians at Saint Mary's and several other local hospitals throughout Georgia.

Drawing a sense of accomplishment in working with many experts in their field, from physicians to nurses and technicians, Mr. Bartlett has spent his entire career working in rural communities. However, he has found the greatest satisfaction in providing safe and compassionate care to his patients.

Pioneering the industry, Mr. Bartlett was noted for introducing epidural anesthesia to pregnant women having babies naturally at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Tennessee in 1980. He also helped design an anesthetic combining two ingredients. Now known as the very popular CIVA anesthesia, it reduces the overall dose and dose-dependent side effects of single substance use.

Mr. Bartlett served his country in the U.S. Army for six years as a combat medic during the 1960s. Shortly thereafter, he returned to school to pursue a career in nursing, then anesthesia. Becoming highly educated in the medical field, he received a diploma in nursing at Saint Mary's School of Nursing in Clarksburg, West Virginia. He subsequently garnered a certificate in anesthesiology, equivalent to a Doctor of Philosophy, from Saint Mary's School of Nursing and a master's degree from Saint Mary's School of Anesthesia. Moreover, Mr. Bartlett received credentials as a certified registered nurse anesthetist.

Recognizing his success, Mr. Bartlett received the 36th Alice Magaw Outstanding Clinical Anesthesia Practitioner Award from the American Association of Anesthesiology in 2022. The accolade was established in 1986 to recognize CRNAs involved in direct patient care. Mr. Barnett was notably the first person to receive the award in Georgia.

Mr. Bartlett was decorated with a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star Medal from the U.S. Army for his military service. He attributes much of his good fortune to the support of his family, as well as several individuals in the medical field that gave him opportunities and his military experience.
