After earning an Associate of Arts and bachelor's degree from Averett University, she received a master's degree in education with an emphasis on language arts from the University of Lynchburg and became certified to teach children with disabilities. Subsequently, Ms. Eastwood worked as a teacher for more than two decades before retiring on disability in 2002. Since her retirement, she has returned to her love of writing.
A prolific children's fantasy author, Ms. Eastwood has written a number of chapter books that bring children into worlds of magic, dragons, and adventure, including "Dragon I: Enter the Realm," "Dragon II: The Fantasy Continues," and "Dragon III: Dreamscape." Through "The Dragon Trilogy," as well as the nine-book series "Chronicles of the Realm," "Dragon, My Dragon," and "Faeriewyck Enchanted," Ms. Eastwood continues her work as an educator, teaching children the importance of friendship, even in tough times, endurance through life's difficulties, and the endlessness of imagination.
In light of her outstanding body of work, Ms. Eastwood has been honored on several occasions, earning the ForeWord Magazine Book of the Year Award in the Juvenile Fiction Category. While her career has been filled with highlights, she takes the most pride in taking joy in all that she does and being whomever she wants to be through her own writing. The cornerstone of her success lay in her faith in the Almighty God, whom she credits with her gift of words. Within the coming years, Ms. Eastwood would like to be published on more traditional platforms.
