Hired by the U.S. Postal Service, she worked at a local office for many years before retiring as a supervisor due to health reasons. An advocate for victims' rights, Ms. Walker tragically lost her 17-year-old daughter due to a hit-and-run in February 2020. Ms. Walker also supports various other causes dear to her heart, including Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
Born and raised in Columbia, South Carolina, Ms. Walker graduated from Spring Valley High School and subsequently enlisted in the U.S. Navy where she served as an operation specialist during the Gulf War. She was honorably discharged three years later. Shortly thereafter, Ms. Walker completed coursework in radiology at Midlands Technical College.
