Prior to establishing himself as a CEO, he worked as the national director of security consulting, healthcare, and federal for Insight, and as a chief information security officer (CISO) for several healthcare organizations such as St. Luke's University Health Network, Vitas Healthcare, and Cook County Health and Hospital Systems.
An expert in his field, Mr. Ellis holds a certificate in computer programming from Prince George's Community College and studied business administration and management from Johns Hopkins' School of Continuing Studies where he was a member of the advancing business professionals' program due to high honors. He became certified in HITRUST quality professional, a certified CSF practitioner, a payment card industry professional, a healthcare information security and privacy practitioner, and a certified information systems security professional (CISSP).
Outside of his work in healthcare security and information science, Mr. Ellis has authored numerous industry guides and excelled as a concert pianist performing Beethoven's most challenging Sonatas and as a composer, writing such piano works as "The Magnificat in A Minor" and "Tetelestai (It is finished)."
Considering his outstanding body of work, Mr. Ellis was recognized with a President's Award from RSIS, Inc. in 2001. While his career has been filled with highlights, he takes the most pride in becoming a chief information security officer and subject matter expert in the healthcare industry and teaching cybersecurity courses online for several major universities. Within the next five to ten years, Mr. Ellis intends to slow down the pace of his work so that he can eventually retire.
