Dr. Morgan is a software engineer and cybersecurity expert celebrating more than a decade of distinction in his field. Inspired by his father, an engineer, and his natural interest in computers and technology, he began building hardware and learning to code at a young age. He earned an Associate of Science in computer science as a high school student, and completed his Bachelor of Science in mathematics and computer science at Dickinson State University in 2010. Dr. Morgan continued his education through the University of Maryland Global Campus, which awarded him a Master of Science in cybersecurity technology in 2018, and earned his Doctor of Computer Science in cybersecurity and information assurance at Colorado Technical University in 2021.
He began his career as a software engineer at Dickinson State University in 2009, and remained in academia as a software engineer for the University of Southern Indiana from 2012 until 2013. For the next two years, he excelled in the private sector as a software engineer for Lieberman Technologies. Dr. Morgan joined the United States Navy in 2015 as a work center supervisor, and was quickly promoted to leading petty officer at the Hazardous Materials Minimization Center before transitioning into a health systems analyst role in 2016. He remained in this role until 2019 and concurrently served as a Command Lean Six Sigma assistant, saving more than $2 million by streamlining procedure and securing data storage assets, among other projects. The processes developed by Dr. Morgan during this period were so successful that they were later placed under review by United States Department of Defense leadership for possible adoption across all Department installations. In recognition of his outstanding accomplishment and contributions, Dr. Morgan was the recipient of a 2016 Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and named a Quality Management and Special Assistant Sailor of the Quarter in 2018.
Dr. Morgan left the United States Navy in 2019, when he accepted his current position as a senior cyber software engineer for Beyond Ordinary Software Solutions. His responsibilities include overseeing the company's cyber security section and supervising the development of code for specialized applications for insurance companies. In his personal time, Dr. Morgan donates his skills to numerous community groups, serving as webmaster for the Veterans Employment Committee of San Diego County and the San Diego Reentry Program, a surf coach for the Torrey Pines Surf Ministry, and Vice President of information technology for the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association. He is the founder and director of Dancing Veterans San Diego, a nonprofit organization dedicated to teaching veterans dance as a component of healing from PTSD and traumatic brain injury whose mission was inspired by his own journey of recovery.
