Drawing on over 20 years of experience, Ms. Boelter has cultivated a fulfilling career as a mental health care specialist. Well-versed in program development, management and implementation, she has served as a behavioral health programs manager for the El Paso County Sheriff's Office in Colorado since 2018. Among her duties in her strategic planning position, she is primarily focused on enhancing crisis response and suicide prevention programs for members in her community. Furthermore, she directly assists clinicians and other health care professionals as needed. Adjacent to her core responsibilities, Ms. Boelter also participates as a member of the patrol leadership team of her organization.
Prior to her current appointment, Ms. Boelter excelled as a clinician herself, working as a clinical director for the Division of Youth Services, as part of the Colorado Department of Human Services, from 2007 to 2018. Ever committed to her professional endeavors, she has also remained active as a member of the board of directors of the Pikes Peak Suicide Prevention Partnership since 2022. In her other civic-minded pursuits, Ms. Boelter continues to volunteer with and co-facilitate for suicide loss grief groups in her community, in addition to participating in fundraising events and resource navigation, education and awareness, and lethal means safety initiatives for suicide prevention.
Prior to embarking on her vocational journey, Ms. Boelter pursued a formal education, ultimately achieving a Master of Arts in forensic psychology at the University of Denver in 2003. To commemorate her academic and professional achievements, she has been honored with several accolades throughout her career. Most recently, she was named the 2020 Civilian Employee of the Year by the El Paso County Sheriff's Office. Likewise, she previously received the Chief's Commendation from the Fountain Police Department. She received the Trilogy Award for successful completion of the FBI-Law Enforcement Executive Development Association (LEEDA) leadership courses.
Attributing much of her success to the support of her husband, mentors and colleagues, Ms. Boelter is particularly proud of her work as a co-responder, a role in which she was able to help shift law enforcement's perspective and response to individuals in crisis. In the coming years, she looks forward to branching out with new programs for the citizens in her community, as well as in other neighboring municipalities. Ms. Boelter also hopes to become more involved in positively shifting the national perspective on suicide prevention.
