Choosing Plymouth, Massachusetts, the birthplace of America, Mr. Sinclair's brick-and-mortar offers a sit-down dining room with an extensive menu comprised of more than 100 different types of afternoon teas to choose from, as well as lunch, small bites, desserts, and an assortment of other beverages. Shelly's Tea Rooms also sells various tea, trinkets, and other items in the gift shop.
Choosing to transition away from his career in car sales, Mr. Sinclair aspired to establish himself in the hospitality sector, where he could deliver unparalleled service, quality, and consistency to his guests not found at other tea rooms. He is now preparing to offer franchise opportunities in the fourth quarter of 2023. Mr. Sinclair aims to expand into multiple locations throughout Massachusetts and beyond.
Despite the varied challenges he had to overcome while establishing himself as the owner of Shelly's Tea Rooms, including the COVID-19 pandemic, which affected his ability to travel back and forth to England and the financial aspects, Mr. Sinclair never gave up. By facing adversity and remaining focused and determined, he overcame extraordinary difficulties and is eager for the brand's future.
Mr. Sinclair spent many years in the retail motor trade running franchised care dealerships with Volkswagen, Volvo, Nissan, and Toyota. In his latest role, he maintained complete control of a Volkswagen dealership, employing over 100 employees.
Giving back to society, Mr. Sinclair volunteers with Kind Hearts for Kids Inc. Based in Bourne, Massachusetts, the nonprofit organization supports children and families dealing with challenging times, including foster children.
Finding constant inspiration in his parents, Mr. Sinclair notably lost his mother at age 12. However, he continued to receive unwavering support and advice from his father throughout the years. Recognizing Mr. Sinclair's success, Shelly's Tea Rooms was named as the Tea Room of the Year in 2019, 2020, and 2021.
