Ms. Penttila earned a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from Portland State University in 1990. Looking ahead, she aims to dedicate more time to traveling and volunteering in her local community, as is currently involved with the charity Mothers Against Drunk Driving. Her devotion to this charity stems from the death of a childhood friend, who was killed by a drunk driver when they were 23. She also volunteers with a hospice.
