Malcolm Jones, II, Ed.D Honored for Achievement in Educational Leadership

Malcolm Jones, II, Ed.D is the principal of Forrest City High School



Dr. Jones is an educator and school administrator celebrating more than 25 years of service to students, teachers, and his community.

    JACKSON, MS, July 25, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Malcolm Jones, II, Ed.D has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Dr. Jones is an educator and school administrator celebrating more than 25 years of service to students, teachers, and his community. Although raised by a teacher, Dr. Jones showed no early interest in pursuing a similar career, and he earned a Bachelor of Science in biology from Alcorn State University in 1996. His passion for football and coaching led him to reconsider, and by 1998, he had earned a Master of Science in biology education from Alcorn State University. Dr. Jones has continued his education throughout his career, earning an educational specialist degree in school leadership from Mississippi College in 2010 and a Doctor of Education in educational leadership in 2022.

Dr. Jones' career began in 1999 as head football coach for Treadwell High School in Memphis, Tennessee. He continued to focus on coaching for several years, serving as head football coach for Melrose High School from 2000 until 2001 and a defensive coordinator for Meridian High School from 2001 until 2004. He continued to develop a reputation for fostering athletic excellence as the head football coach for Murrah High School between 2004 and 2007 when he accepted a similar role for the Indianola School District. In 2009, Dr. Jones was named head football coach and athletic director for the McComb School District, a position he held until 2016. In 2014, he began to turn his focus to classroom leadership and concurrently stepped into a position as alternative school director for the district. He was named assistant principal of the Coahoma County Junior and Senior High School in 2017, and in 2019 he accepted his current position as principal of Forrest City High School, where he has helped develop a community college partnership allowing students to earn basic EMT credentials and commercial driver's licenses, among other job skills.

In recognition of his dedication to his work, Dr. Jones has been the recipient of awards including a district-level "Beating The Odds" award and the 2023 HBCYou Network Lifetime Achievement Award. He credits his success to the example of his parents and coaches, and considers his students' success to be his greatest accomplishment. He looks forward to continuing to grow as an administrator and a professional, including an anticipated move to become a district assistant superintendent in July of 2023. In his personal time, Dr. Jones enjoys exercise, reading, gardening, and spending quality time with his family.
