PURCELLVILLE, VA, August 01, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Margaret Boone Rappaport, PhD, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Leveraging five decades of excellence as a cultural anthropologist and biologist as well as in space science, Dr. Rappaport has earned distinction as the co-founder of The Human Sentience Project LLC. Since 2013, she has focused her efforts on conducting research in human cognitive evolution, neuroscience, ecotheology and lunar and space sciences. In her leadership role, she also plans, budgets and manages company projects.

Prior to founding The Human Sentience Project LLC, Dr. Rappaport served as the President of Policy Research Methods, Inc. from 1986 until 2006. She also was a professor of anthropology and sociology for Georgetown University, The George Washington University, and Prince George's Community College. She taught for 15 years at the college level, mostly part-time. She has also contributed six books and numerous articles to her field, including "Capital Crime: Black Infant Mortality in America" in 1989, "Space Science and Astronomy Theatre" in 2017, "The Emergence of Religion in Human Evolution (Routledge Studies in Neurotheology, Cognitive Science and Religion)" in 2020, and "Capital Cubans: Refugee Adaptation in Washington, D.C." in 1989. She edited "Computer Applications for Anthropologists" in 1992, and "The Human Factor in the Settlement of the Moon; An Interdisciplinary Approach" in 2021.

Among her professional accomplishments, Dr. Rappaport was inducted to Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society and the Pi Lambda Theta Honor Society for education and the liberal arts and sciences. She also was honored with a Praxis Award from the Washington Association of Professional Anthropologists. Her highest cited paper on ResearchGate is for her work on the low birthweight rate among disadvantaged Black women, and she has noted more people are becoming invested in understanding why women in this population have a larger number of infant deaths and higher low birthweight rates.

Prior to embarking on her professional journey, Dr. Rappaport earned a Bachelor of Arts in biology from The George Washington University in 1968. Following this achievement, she attained a Master of Education in Social Foundations of Education from the University of Florida in 1970. She subsequently gained a Master of Arts in anthropology in 1973 and a Doctor of Philosophy in cultural anthropology in 1977, both from The Ohio State University.

Within the coming years, Dr. Rappaport has additional books for publication planned. She just signed a contract for a book on "The Science and Religion of Space Settlement; Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, and Theology Intersect." The book will be published by CRC Press, a member of the Taylor & Francis Group. She hopes to become more connected to other women who are working in the field of space science.
