WASHINGTON, D.C., August 02, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Reza Khanzadeh, PhD, has been included in Marquis Who's Who in America for 2023. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

As one of the first architects of the United States-Iran Chamber of Commerce, Dr. Khanzadeh has served as a Policy Advisor for the organization since 2022. Responsible for researching and analyzing current events and policies related to U.S. and Iran relations, he also provides risk analysis and forecasting reports regarding domestic and regional concerns. Moreover, Dr. Khanzadeh advises companies, entities, and organizations interested in possibly working with their counterparts in Iran. Before taking on his current position, he notably served as the organization's Director of Operations.

Established in Washington, D.C., in 2015, the United States-Iran Chamber of Commerce is a nonprofit organization providing trade, sanctions, and compliance expertise to companies and trade associations. Focused primarily on legal, foreign policy, risk analysis, and forecasting advice, the Chamber was initially inspired by the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), or the Iran Nuclear Deal under the Obama administration. It is also recognized as the only national chamber of commerce for the Iranian-American business and professional community.

Dr. Khanzadeh is a former Research Fellow at the Sharif Policy Research Institute, from 2019 to 2022 where he provided domestic analysis pertaining to Iran. He previously served as an Office and Events Administrator for the National Iranian American Council in Washington, D.C. During which time he was tasked with guiding and assisting over 2,000 individuals affected by the Trump administration's 2017 Muslim Travel Ban. In lead up to the JCPOA in 2015, Dr. Khanzadeh was a research specialist for the American Iranian Council in New York City.

Moreover, Dr. Khanzadeh maintained contract positions in 2012 and 2013 as a research analyst for the Center for Human Rights in Iran, and a translator for the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in Iran. During which time he contributed to two reports: The Cost of Faith and The Situation of Human Rights in the Islamic Republic of Iran. Such efforts have been credited as one of the reasons in successfully releasing political prisoners from Iran in 2013.

Considered a Middle East and Iran expert, Dr. Khanzadeh has been sought after for consulting and analysis. He has contributed to international news networks – like Sky News, Indus News, TRT World, Al Jazeera, VOA Farsi, and Politics 365 – on Iran-related current events. A well-written author, Dr. Khanzadeh has also contributed numerous articles to SouthAsia Magazine and Mehr News since 2011. Looking towards the future, he intends to publish his first book based on his doctoral fieldwork inside Iran. Dr. Khanzadeh's book examines the lived experiences of five young men trying to realize their professional aspirations inside Iran while navigating the Islamic Republic's education system, higher education system, and job market. The participants' narrative argues that the Islamic Republic reframes promises of human capital and employability to reduce them to an obedient citizen or an emigrant. Thus, irrespective of how much the individual invests in human capital, improves their employability, and exercises their agency they will not succeed in Iran's job market if their ideology is different from the State. Dr. Khanzadeh argues that existing literature on these issues do not position the State as an active obstructor, divertor, and opposer to one's professional aspirations. As a result, Dr. Khanzadeh proposes that a new concept – ideological capital – is a necessary addition to the existing capital arguments of human, social, cultural, political, and religious.

Among other goals, Dr. Khanzadeh aims to secure a position as a professor in higher education. He also aspires to become more active in the news media so he can speak on behalf of those whose voices are silenced – particularly the people of Iran.

Highly educated, Dr. Khanzadeh earned a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies from West Virginia University in 2005, a Master of Arts in Islamic Studies from the University of Virginia in 2010, a Master of Arts in International Relations from New York University in 2012, and a Doctor of Education from the University of Oxford in England in 2022.
