Tasveer Film Summit Postponed Due to Ongoing Strikes in Entertainment Industry

    SEATTLE, WA, August 02, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Tasveer announced today that the inaugural Tasveer Film Summit, originally scheduled for October 11th and 12th, 2023 at Tagney Jones Hall, Seattle, has been postponed to next year due to ongoing strikes and tensions affecting the entertainment industry.

The Tasveer Film Summit aimed to create networking and partnership opportunities for South Asian diasporic filmmakers and bring their compelling stories to global audiences. The Film Summit was set to be the first major event focused on connecting diasporic filmmakers, producers, industry executives, and other entertainment professionals.

"Due to reasons beyond our control, we feel it is prudent to reschedule the Summit for a future date when we can ensure a successful event." said Rita Meher, Executive Director of Tasveer.

Good news is that the 18th Tasveer South Asian Film Festival, the one and only Oscar Qualifying South Asian Film Festival, will still take place as scheduled from October 12-22, 2023. The postponement only affects the Tasveer Film Summit. Tasveer remains committed to creating opportunities for South Asian filmmakers and advancing diversity in the entertainment industry. The organization plans to announce new dates next year when conditions have improved sufficiently to host the inaugural Film Summit.
