Dr. Chun is a specialty board-certified osteopathic neuromusculoskeletal medicine and osteopathic manipulative medicine practitioner, educator, and healthcare leader celebrating more than 30 years of dedication to her profession. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Natural Sciences from the New York Institute of Technology and was awarded her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine by the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1991. Before beginning her clinical practice, Dr. Chun spent three years completing a professional internship and residency in Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine at St. Barnabas Hospital located in Bronx, NY. As a part of her commitment to constant professional growth, she returned to school at the University of New England, earning a master's degree in Medical Education Leadership in 2014. In addition to her formal education, Dr. Chun holds numerous industry certificates including the distinction as a Certified Physician Executive from the American Association for Physician Leaders and as an Osteopathic Health Policy Fellow through the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine.

For the first 47 years of her career, Dr. Chun saw patients in private practice, first as the owner and primary provider at Lisa R. Chun, D.O., P.C., between 19943 and 2001, and then as the physician-owner of Kaua'i Osteopathic Inc. between 2002 and 2010. She transitioned into academia in 2011 as an adjunct faculty member at the A.T. Still University School of Osteopathic Medicine in Arizona, rising to become an Assistant Professor, course director, and Director of the school's Pre-doctoral Osteopathic Principles and Practices Teaching Fellowship program. In 2014, Dr. Chun became an Associate Professor at the Campbell University School of Osteopathic Medicine, adding responsibilities as the Department Chair of the Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine Department and founding Residency Program Director of the Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine Plus One residency between 2015 and 2017. She considers her work in establishing the residency program and ensuring training opportunities for new clinicians during a time of tremendous industry changes to be one of her greatest accomplishments.

In 2017, Dr. Chun became an Associate Professor at the University of the Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine, departing the following year to join California Health Sciences University of Osteopathic Medicine as the Associate Dean for Osteopathic Clinical Education. Since 2020, she has been the school's Associate Dean of Osteopathic Clinical Education and Simulation working with osteopathic medical students, health professions students, and physician residents. She oversees the departments of Primary Care, Specialty Medicine, and Osteopathic Principles and Practices departments in addition to the school's simulation center. The simulation center has applied for full accreditation through the Society for Simulation in Healthcare. In 2022, Dr. Chun achieved the academic rank of Professor.

As a passionate advocate for the field of osteopathic medicine, Dr. Chun has served proudly as National Faculty of the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners since 2013, and she is a longtime Fellow of the National Academy of Osteopathic Medical Educators through the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine. Additional. leadership roles have included appointment as a California delegate to the American Osteopathic Association's House of Delegates and a seat on the board of directors of the Osteopathic Physicians & Surgeons of California, where she has had a direct impact on state and national policy. Dr. Chun has served on the Board of Governors for the American Academy of Osteopathy as well as a director on the board for the Assembly of Osteopathic Graduate Medical Educators, a component council of the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Chun continues to emphasize, educate and advocate for osteopathic philosophy and practices with implementation throughout the spectrum of osteopathic medical education from undergraduate to graduate to continuing medical education, and patient care while modeling a healthy work-life balance. In her personal time, Dr. Chun enjoys time with family and friends, travel and cultural exchange, spending time outdoors hiking and gardening, and is an avid amateur photographer.
