NEW YORK, NY, August 24, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Claire-Marie Vacher, PhD, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Leveraging more than two decades of excellence in developmental neuroscience, Dr. Vacher has earned distinction as an assistant professor in pediatrics with Columbia University's Irving Medical Center. Since 2020, she has focused her efforts on research involving the influence of pre- and postnatal factors on brain development. Most recently, Dr. Vacher and collaborators published "Placental endocrine function shapes cerebellar development and social behavior" in the journal Nature Neuroscience in 2021. Additionally, she has served as an associate professor for Paris-Saclay University in France since 2004.

Prior to her current role, Dr. Vacher served as a visiting scientist with the Children's National Health System in 2015 and became a research assistant professor there in 2018. She is also a valued member of the Society for Neuroscience, the International Society for Neurochemistry, the Federation of European Neuroscience Societies and the French Neuroscience Society.

To prepare for her professional journey, Dr. Vacher earned a Doctorate of Philosophy in neuroscience from University Paris 6 (Sorbonne University) in France in 2002 and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Basel in Switzerland in 2004. Following these achievements, she obtained an accreditation to supervise research from University Paris 6 (Sorbonne University) in 2013.

Within the coming years, Dr. Vacher intends to engage in research on the impact of fetal life and the in-utero environment on fetal brain. Specifically, she aims to identify nutritional and placental factors that shape brain development. This research could lead to the development of innovative strategies for improving the survival and neurodevelopmental outcomes of preterm infants who experience abrupt loss of placental support. Dr. Vacher ultimately aspires to utilize her research to educate others, especially pregnant women, about the plasticity and vulnerability of the fetal brain throughout pregnancy. By shedding light on the impact of maternal lifestyle, nutrition, and medication on fetal brain, she aims to inform people that the conditions in which we develop before birth can significantly affect our behaviors and health throughout our entire life.
