Dr. Stone's extensive professional background has included serving as the director of the health care licensure for the State of Florida from 2000 to 2002, as an associate executive director for the Dental Assisting National Board between 1996 and 2000, as the director of research for the National Certification Corporation from 1994 to 1996, as the SP manager for the American Society of Clinical Pathologists between 1992 and 1994, and as a research associate for the Chicago Child Care Society from 1988 to 1992.
A leader in his community, Dr. Stone is most notably the founder and chairperson of the Alice Elizabeth Stone Foundation. Named in his grandmother's honor, who advocated for sustainability in education and the environment and dedicated her life to gender equality, the nonprofit organization focuses on helping others to improve humanity and the social condition by providing scholarships to the board of Sacred Awakenings. Looking toward the future, Dr. Stone is eager to become more involved in the foundation by developing additional scholarships and grant programs targeted at Native Americans and indigenous communities.
Dr. Stone graduated from Shimer College in 1986 with a Bachelor of Arts in liberal arts with an emphasis in social sciences. He also earned a Master of Arts in counseling psychology from Loyola University in 1989 and a Doctor of Philosophy in measurement, evaluation, and statistical analysis from the University of Chicago in 1996. Moreover, Dr. Stone garnered credentials as a certified alternative teacher through the American Board for Certification of Teacher Excellence. He is active in his professional community as a prominent member of the American Educational Research Association.
